Shortbread Supreme

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
I made 2 batches; one as is which turned out pretty good. but then the second batch I added 1/4 cup of cornstarch and they baked up lighter and super delicious! I love how quick and simple this recipe is I made 2 batches in well under an hour and got about 6 or 7 dozen cut out cookies (about an inch and a half sized cookie cutters)

Banana Pound Cake With Caramel Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
Awesome recipe! I have made this several times and it always turns out perfect even when I have had to make substitutions. I have been short and egg, or short a banana, added spices or not added spices, used the caramel glaze or a chocolate one or no glaze at all...whether I follow the recipe exactly or change things it's always delicious! I use this recipe for banana bread and cakes now and it is always a hit!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2010
Delicious! Only change I made was to add a couple pinches of ginger for a little kick and 1 cup of chocolate chips because a little chocolate makes everything better ;-) But they would still be great without my additions.

Curried Leek Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
great soup! I added some sweet potato and used veggie broth instead of chicken broth still turned out delicious! (and i didn't puree it) Definately a nice change to the usual leek soup. Little spicey, little sweet, and all yummy!

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
Good soup...great base to add other things I added some ham and green onions. Instead of cornstarch I added powdered potatoes to thicken before I added the cream (half and half) I only used margarine instead of butter and only a fraction of the amount about 3 tbs Next time i think cauliflower would make it even better!

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
I sub'd apple sauce for the olive oil Added Cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and a little bit of ginger to the batter (or pumpkin pie spice would have worked) And used Oatmeal instead of nuts for the topping I had trouble getting the cream cheese mix to thicken but pulled out the stand mixer and it thickened up very quickly I did use powdered sugar instead of brown sugar for the cream cheese mix Turned out Delicious!!! Made 2 Dozen...5 for taste but 4 because of the changes that so many people have suggested.

Baked Zucchini

I thought these were good and an easy way to use up zuchinni My husband on the other hand gagged a little and said the texture was discusting (crispy outside kind of smooshy in the inside)....so only three stars because they didn't please everyone.

Favorite Corn Bread

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Very Yummy and super easy to make. I made mine in a muffin tray which cut down the cook time and makes portion control a little easier. I also used Margarine instead of shortening and halfed the sugar and added white corn syrup instead to help keep them moist. Very delicious and not too sweet.

Creme Anglaise II

My first attempt at home made custard, it worked perfectly, no lumps. I served it with Bread Pudding I also from this site and they were a perfect match I did cut the sugar down a little but not much. I will definately make this again!

Delicious! I made Cream Anglaise II also from this site for the sauce instead of the lemon...But the bread pudding turned out perfect I sprinkled with a little extra cinnamon before baking, and added a cinnamon raison bagel to the bread mix for extra texture. Will definately make this again!

Butternut Squash Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
This turned out with a very 'yeasty' flavour probably would have been better with only one package of yeast. Didn't have much of a squash flavour could definately have used some spices of some sort, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg perhaps? the bread did rise perfectly and came out with a lovely texture though.

Pizza Dough I

This pizza dough is so easy to make. I made it once following the recipe exactly and then a couple more times adding different spices to the dough everytime. Turned out perfectly each time. I even froze some and it still turned out perfectly. Definately a keeper!

Leftover Squash Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Fabulous muffins and super easy to make. I used Butternut squash which I mashed instead of pureeing so there were still little bits of squash here and there in the muffins. The only changes I made to the recipe were to add and extra half cup of squash(because it was there) and to add a little cloves(about 1/4tsp) I also added a simple crumble (brown sugar, oatmeal and butter) to the tops of half of them muffins turned out great with or without the crumble!
