Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
i have now made this a few times and am upgrading to 5 stars. every time i make this, the table is quiet except for mmmm noises. i have never had anyone say they didnt like it, most people rave about how amazing it is. the honey mustard is the best ive ever tasted, and ill use it in other recipes from now on. i make double the sauce and save half for dipping. i leave out the nuts. otherwise, recipe is the exact same and it is perfect. thanks!

Aioli

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
This recipe, as is, has zero flavor. its literally like eating mayo outta the jar. but! i fixed it. i added: 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 1/2 pureed red bell pepper 1/4 tsp louisiana hot sauce a little extra lemon juice. it saved it woooh!

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
this was pretty good, but needed something. i'm thinking sun dried tomatoes. edit- added the sundried tomatoes....much better. also used fat free 1/2&1/2 to cut down the artery clogging, and added some chicken sausage.

Red Velvet Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
use 1 cup veg oil instead of shortening, and 2 cups sugar. also it should be on TBSP not one TSP vinegar. when you make the red and cocoa paste, use 1 oz coloring and add 1 tbsp buttermilk to keep the cake from marbling. beat the frosting to death and itll be perfect.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
this is the first turkey i ever made. (i've made large roaster chickens before though.) the butter under the skin technique made VERY nice breast meat. i also added a quartered lemon and fresh rosemary and thyme to the cavity. the smell in my house was amazing. instead of seasoning salt i used old bay and pepper. the broth made amazing gravy. thanks for helping me make a nice birthday dinner for my husband's party!

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
this goes quick every time i make it. the first time i used 3 tubes of biscuits, and i had to take off the top layer and put it back in. it was still gooey dough in the middle and getting too cooked on top. still tasted fine. the second time i used 2 tubes, and it came out perfect. i flipped it while still hot to let the caramel sugar drip all over it. used a bundt pan. mmmmm.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
this recipe is almost the same as the one in the crock pot recipe book, except that one is better. just use 2 14.5 oz cans of chicken broth instead of the water, one can of biscuits unless you REALLY like alot of dumplings, and leave out the butter. also at 6 hours take the chicken out and shred it plus the biscuits do better with an hour left. i also added baby carrots and celery, along with some basil and thyme.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
these came out excellent. you know its good when everyone gets off the couch for seconds. i made a few small changes to spice it up. i added a can of green chili peppers to the beef/rice mixture. the tomato soup sauce, i added chili powder, cayenne pepper, a little louisiana hot sauce (sounds like alot of spice but its not at all just dont add tons!) some basil and oregano. this gave it a nice zippy flavor.

Absolutely Perfect Palak Paneer

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
i was very happy with this. uses a TON of spinach but its worth it to use fresh instead of frozen. looks horrendous until it makes it to the blender. DEFINITELY use paneer instead of ricotta. i added a little cayenne pepper instead of chiles. im a baby when it comes to heat so a little went a long way. thanks very much!

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
the flavor on these is great! this is one of the rare cases i wished i hadnt read the other reviews on this one. the batter was not soupy or runny for me at all, although a little soft it made balls just fine. also, the cooking time of 10 min i found to be just right. i cooked the first batch for 8 since the other reviews said to take them out before they looked done, and they are REALLY doughy still. but tasty! basically, if you listen to the recipe exactly, these turn out great. for all the complaints, i doubt a recipe got this many good reviews by being horrible, you should probably figure out what you are doing wrong so you can fix it and enjoy these!

Navratan Korma

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2008
this came out awesome. i made a few changes and used coconut milk instead of cream or milk. i also omitted raisins and a few of the veggies. but i added cauliflower, which is a MUST. traditionally, it shouldnt have potatoes or carrots in it, but i added them anyways and it tastes good. if you cut the potatoes small enough, they do cook through just fine. this is great with basmati rice.

Indian Style Basmati Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
this was a very fragrant and flavorful rice. i didnt use the whole cloves or cinnamon stick, just substituted ground. but i did use the cardamom pods. dont use too much if you decide to use ground spices. it came out great and went perfectly with the navrattan korma from this site.
