About this Cook
I was born and raised on the island of Maui, Hawaii. I lived in the same town for nearly 28 years of my life! I met my husband, Marc at work and we currently reside in Colorado Springs, in our very first home together, with our three sons, Jayden, Peyton, and Lian. Living in The Springs (as everyone here calls it) is very different from the island lifestyle that I am used to. The snow takes a lot of getting used to, however, it does make everything look very pretty. I tell my husband frequently that prior to meeting him, I never used to cook. My mom is Filipino and she never really taught us how to cook her dishes (I think she thought we'd screw it up somehow!) so once I became a wife and mother, I thought "Well, now's a good time as any to learn!" This website's terrific and I love that users are able to provide their feedback and suggestions, which makes deciding what to cook a whole lot easier!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking, however, my passion is baking! I love to make desserts, especially, cookies and pies. It brings me joy that I am able to share these treats with our new neighbors (we just moved to Colorado Springs two months ago) and with my husband's brother and his family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The tradition used to be that I would normally buy something to bring to family gatherings and office potlucks... Now all of that has definitely changed!
My cooking triumphs
Prior to discovering this website, (allow me to say it bluntly...) I sucked at cooking! My best dish used to be Spaghetti and that was with sauce from the jar. Today, I am confident that I can make almost anything with the help of this website, even meatsauce from scratch! That is the greatest triumph that I can achieve!
My cooking tragedies
Last holiday season (2006), I thought I would share my passion for sweet treats by baking cookies and giving them as holiday gifts for our family and friends. Well needless to say, I completely forgot to put the flour in one of the recipes! What a disaster it was.

Snowballs II
Perfect recipe! It took a little while longer to bake (perhaps because I like to have mines a little brown around the edges) but it makes for a perfect holiday treat.

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham
This is my go-to recipe for baked ham! My family absolutely loves it anytime of the year.

Chicken Long Rice Soup
I've looked through numerous Chicken Long Rice recipes and this has to be one of the easiest and most flavorful recipes I've found. I use chicken breasts because my husband dislikes "brown meat" but it is just as good!
