About this Cook
To sum it all up, I love to cook. While cooking is my hobby, it is also my passion but most of all it allows me to relax and be creative. I watch the food channel religiously and read cookbooks and food magazines for fun. Although I know that I still have a lot to learn and a lot of new things to try.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook and bake just about anything. I am always looking for new recipes and innovative ways to use basic ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Around Christmas, it is tradition to make cookies. We generally make sugar cookies with our delicious twist on a basic recipe and decorate as a family. I have learned the majority of my cooking knowledge from my mom, she is great in the kitchen and it is enjoyable to see her way around a kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
For the most part, I have had success with new recipes. With that, I think my biggest triumph is being able to adapt a recipe into my own. I know what my household preferences are and I enjoy changing a recipe to fit our likes instead of not trying something new. While I do manage to not change all recipes.
My cooking tragedies
I have had a few and I am sure I will encounter more as I experiment with new recipes and ideas.

Blue Cheese with Capers and Red Onion
This was easy dish to make and turned out well.

Alfredo Sauce
This is a good basic recipe. However, I built off of this and I have added rotisserie chicken or chicken sautéed with the garlic and a touch of olive oil. I used a touch more garlic and heavy cream-which can be split with half and half to reduce the calories. I also added sautéed portabella mushrooms and fresh thyme.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
I used a 3.50 lb pork roast, I was a little worried about all the fat on the meat but it fell right off the roast. I cooked this pork on low for 8 hours and the meat turned out perfectly. Shredding the meat was easy and the end result was delicious.
