Chicken and Tortellini Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2014
This is a very good, basic recipe. I made several changes to the original recipe - that's why I didn't rate it higher. I sautéed the chicken in olive oil and seasoned it with salt and pepper. I added garlic, celery and mushrooms to the veggies. I added Italian seasoning with the chicken broth and I cooked the veggies for a bit to soften them before I added the chicken and the tortellini. I thickened the soup with whole milk and cornstarch, instead of water. With these changes, it was awesome. Next time, I'd probably omit the green beans and add spinach instead.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2014
Wow! Very light and fluffy - perfect peanut butter flavor. I did have to add more milk than the recipe called for to make it really creamy - it was just a bit too stiff with 3 tablespoon. And definitely use real butter!

Kim's Spinach Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2012
I made this salad to go with a roasted pork tenderloin. I really liked the dressing, however my husband and son thought that the dressing had way too much garlic in it. I'll probably make it again but use just one clove of garlic instead of the 2 cloves called for.

Garlic and Parmesan Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2012
These rolls are delicious! Made them last night to go with lasagna dinner. Everyone raved. The dough is very soft and sticky. I didn't need to roll it into a rectangle. Just patted it out on the board. I did omit the cayenne because I didn't have any, and added a sprinkling of garlic powder in addition to the fresh garlic. Thanks for the great recipe!

Chili Verde Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
I used this recipe as a jumping off point to use up leftover pork loin.It was yummy, but not really what I thnk of as chili verde. I added black beans, roasted corn and added chili powder and oregano to the spices.

Cinnamon, Spice and Everything Nice Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
These cookies were nice and chewy. I added about 1/2 teaspoon more ginger and an overflowing teaspoon of cloves to the batter. I was surprised at how soft the dough was - not stiff at all. I was able to scoop it in my cookie scoop and then roll the dough in cinnamon sugar. I'm not really crazy about using all shortening in a cookie recipe, so if I make them again I'll try using half butter and half shortening. I'll also add some cinnamon into the dough and increase the flour a bit to make it a bit stiffer.

Peach Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
Followed a lot of others suggestions and added cinnamon and nutmeg to original recipe, as well as a tablespoon of cornstarch. It tasted wonderful, but was very runny! My family actually used the juice as topping for ice cream! Next time will add tapioca instead. I used my own crust recipe.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
These tasted like the cupcakes my grandmother used to make! They had the substance that box mix cakes don't have. They were simple and yummy - I did notice that you had to be careful with baking time though! I frosted them with the Vanilla Sour Cream frosting from this site. Delicious!
