About this Cook
I'm married and have two girls. I live in southwest Florida. I enjoy being outdoors. In my spare time I like to hunt, fish, swim, sunbathe, atv ride, horse back ride, get together w/ family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Alfredo
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmoms dressing at Thanksgiving. It is the best and very unique. My grandmom also makes the best pumpkin and pecan pies at Christmas and Thanksgiving. She always makes so many of them. They sure are the best.
My cooking triumphs
I'm great at frying pork chops to perfection. I've been told by quite a few people that they are the best they've ever had. I also make pretty darn good potato salad. My husbands favorite is my spaghetti. He doesn't like italian food to much and spaghetti is at the top of his do not eat list. Until he met me and tried mine. He now requests it often and raves about it being the best.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I ever cooked for my husband was when we were just dating. I told him I could make good biscuit sausage and gravy for breakfast. I left out that I used can biscuits. He was really craving that kinda breakfast and asked me to make it. He stated, I'm so glad you can make homemade biscuits, I hate that canned stuff. I guess he just assumed I could make them homemade. I just smiled and said I'd make them for him the next morning. I thought to myself, how hard could it be. I remembered seeing a biscuit recipe on the flour bag and the next morning I tried to pull it off. I made about three dozen biscuits that looked beautiful, but could have busted a window out if thrown at one. The last batch (the fourth dozen) wasn't as hard, so I presented those to him with tears. I was so embarassed, and exhausted. I had been cooking for hours. He felt so sorry for me he made himself a plate and actually attempted to eat it. He even told me it was good. I knew then I had to marry him.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
This was a good banana bread, but it wasn't the best I'd ever had. Slicing the banana's is a big no no. Make sure to smash them and smashed it should equal a cup. This also seemed better after a day or two. It seemed to get more moist. Overall it was good, but I would have rather it been a little sweeter and the banana's to be better distibuted throughout the bread (which would have happened had I mashed them). This is just my opinion. This might be the perfect bread for you just how it is. Don't be afraid to experiment!

Buttermilk Pie IV
Buttermilk pie was something I grew up eating in the south. I recently turned my husband onto eating it (he's from Michigan). He begged me to make one for Christmas. I found this recipe and it seemed very similar to what I've been eating for years. It was very easy to make and came out wonderful. One of the elders in the family said they had been eating buttermilk pie for years and never had one this good. That was a big deal for me. So needless to say this is a pie I'm sure I'll be making time and time again. I'm sure they'll be no complaints either. Especially since I was asked when I'd be making another :)

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII
I made one of these for Thanksgiving. It was soooo good! Everyone said it was the best they had ever had. I thought that was impressive being that most of them were experienced bakers. I have been asked to make this again to bring to our Christmas gathering.
