Ash-e-jow (Iranian/Persian Barley Soup)

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2007
I would have to admit that the soup was interesting, and I ate the whole bowl, but I didn't want seconds and I can't imagine I will have any more of it. It just had a flavor I wasn't used to, and I didn't like the taste of the parsley. Sorry if I offended anyone! Just not my bowl of soup...so to speak.

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2007
It's so nice to add recipes like this to my recipe book. Very good, satisfying flavor, especially when you eat them fresh from the oven. My kids didn't know they were good for them. They are a little sweet but I like them that way.

Lemon Berry Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2007
This was a really good, refreshing smoothie. Using both blueberry yogurt and frozen blueberries made the blueberry taste stand out better. I had to use a little orange juice because I didn't have the lemon, but I will try again with the lemon.

Southwest Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2007
This recipe is deceptively simple. It has a really enjoyable flavor. I cut the chicken into strips before cooking and served it with tortillas and light sour cream. I ate the rest in a bowl with sour cream like mexican soup. It was awesome both ways. I'm keeping this one! I would call this light tex-mex comfort food.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
My 6-year-old made this for a talent contest at church and had so much fun. When we turned it out of the pan onto the plate it was all we could do to keep from digging in. It looked so nice on the plate. She also made the cream cheese frosting from "clone of a cinnabon" for dipping. Needless to say...she got a 10.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
Absolutely THE BEST pumpkin bread recipe ever. I make it quite often and won't look for a better recipe. Moist and satisfying.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
This was a good, basic marinade. The flavor was very good but wasn't really exciting. I will make again. Marinaded for about 4 hours.

Chicken Salad Spread

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
I really enjoyed this recipe. It is very simple but has good flavor, especially for people who are trying to cut back on the fat. Served with whole wheat pita and shredded lettuce and carrots. Very good.

Low-Fat Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
These cookies had a great taste. I am looking for healthier recipes to feed my family and this is a nice one. I gave it a 4 because the appearance isn't as nice. I followed another person's advice and cooked at 325 but they were undercooked even after 10 minutes so I did the rest at 350 and that worked better.

Best Ever Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
These were so good. I'm on a diet and it was terribly hard not to go back for seconds...so I did. I will keep this recipe. No butter or honey needed.

Easy Bean Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
This recipe was interesting, and it did taste good, but there wasn't really anything exciting about it. I took it to a potluck and brought most of it home. I added the corn as someone suggested and that added to the flavor and color. If you are looking for healthy alternatives I suppose this recipe isn't so bad.

Normal Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
This recipe sounded good, and it was very easy to prepare; however, it came out of the oven looking very unappetizing and the flavor was only so-so. It was o.k. to eat but I will not make again.
