Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
This is my go to recipe for noodles!!! I should have rated it awhile ago. I love them and how thick and hearty they are. Sometimes if I'm lazy I just pinch the dough off in 1/2 inch sizes pieces and toss them in soups and stews. My kids love to help me and it's just plain fun.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2013
This recipe is only half way good if you do tweak so many things which doesn't make a 5 star recipe in my book. We made this recipe as is and nobody at them and nobody liked the weird spongy texture. The flavor was bland and off. I cook homemade pancakes every Saturday morning and we tried this one twice and we are done with it.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
These tasted okay (far too sweet), but mine were crumbles after cooling. Maybe it's because I used real peanut butter or I didn't stir enough, but I couldn't let the kids eat them because they would turn into a pile of crumbs when we picked them up. They were not flat, cute, little, glossy cookies that were discussed or shown in pictures. And I know how to cook and make yummy hard candy so these should have been easy peasy.

Flavored Cappuccino Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I made this recipe and didn't like it much simply because it was rather bland. Then I was reading the back of powder milk box and discovered 1/3 cup powder milk is supposed to make 1 cup of milk. So after messing with the recipe with my kiddos (decaf coffee) we finly found we like it with far less creamer, more milk and added some buttermilk powder. The buttermilk makes all the difference. Yummy! I gave this four stars just for giving us an idea of where to start. Thanks! This year we are making up jars of this to go with the cookies in a jar. Yum!

Rhubarb Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I thought this was awesome. It was my first time cooking with rhubarb so I followed the recipe exactly. I should have taken the advice of the other posts and used far more rhubarb, but there will be a next time for sure!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
This recipe is yummy!!! I like to add green pepper to my sauce though. I also add a lot of cheese to my meatballs. I love the salty flavor it gives the meat. Very yummy! I'm going to try to duplicate this sauce with my fresh tomatoes next week. We shall see! Thanks :)

Easiest Eggplant

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
Holy cow! This was so good! I used 1/2 packet of something like shake and bake for my seasoned bread crumbs. I thought this made it taste wonderful. My kids loved it. I think that using real mayo is key. I also put some olive oil on the bottom of my pan and flipped the eggplant in the middle of cooking. I already bought several more eggplant to cook this way and have plans to put some in my garden for next year. Thank you!!!

Country Oatmeal Cookie in a Jar

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I made these today for a "come to my house and buy something party" I'm hosting tomorrow. I had this recipe printed out a few weeks in advance and shopped for the all ingrediants and was all set. It said quart size jar... Needless to say I packed and pressed and tapped and tried just about everything to make thes fit in the jar. I even put heavy plastic on my potato masher and used that to pack each layer seperately. No luck. I am sending them home with my guests reguardless, but I am very sad they didn't turn out like the picture.

Plain Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
I've made doughnuts before and while there were good, they were not as good as other cake doughnuts. I get that this is a basic recipe, but even still there was something missing.

Chocolate Banana Oatmeal Porridge

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
First, this oatmeal is sweet, but when you add chocolate and sugar to something that is going to be the end result. However, I make the good old fashion oatmeal on the stove maybe three times a week and let my six year old son add his own toppings which is usually natural sugar or pure maple syrup and raisins and when he gives me a bit I must say it is much sweeter than the chocolate oatmeal. We've also tried those prepackaged flavored oatmeal’s and those are just as sweet as this and not nearly as healthy in my opinion. That being said, next time I make this I will probably omit sugar and set it on the table so everyone can add their own. FYI- we didn't use chocolate or brown sugar, we used carob chips and natural sugar.

Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
I really liked this recipe, but felt I needed to add a few things. Overall it was really good. One thing I ended up doing at the end was putting two cans of extra beans in the food processor to make the soup thick and hearty. I saw a few other people done the same thing with the bean the recipe called for. A great recipe for starting with.

Ham Tetrazzini

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
I made this recipe for my family a few days ago with leftover ham. I normally stay away from recipes with canned soup, but this sounded so easy and different for a quick meal. It was a big hit and I will be making this again.

Quick Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
I took these bars up to my parents' cabin and everyone ate them the same day. A huge hit! These were very simple to make, but I had a problem trying to get the wax paper off. I did everything the recipe said, but something went wrong. I think next time I will just use a coated cooked sheet and/or freeze them first. I also did one batch with nuts and another plain and the nuts on the first batch didn't make it. I love nuts but you have to be gentle with them so I think next time I will sprinkle them on top of the chocolate. Yummy!!

Super Easy Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
I made this recipe the other day when it was cold outside. I made it just the way it said and it was bit spicy for our 4 year old, but every loved it. I make chili every Halloween for about 16 people and this one will be the one I dish up this year!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
I like how easy this recipe was to prepare and that it didn't call a very expensive cut of meat. Just a few simple everyday things and you have a great supper without going to the store, at least for me. Great for a mom going to school! I will be making this time and again! Thanks.

Serbian Cevapcici

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
Wow, I've wanted to make these since my stay in Bosnia. My husband worked on a base in Tuzla and I thought it would be fun to go live with him there. I know the cevapcici we ate didn't have the pork in it because we lived in a very strict Muslim area, but even with changing the meat around a bit they were perfect. Exactly like the restaurant up the road from where we lived, Bosanka’s. These tasted wonderful with my yogurt sauce on English muffins, which is the closest thing I found to the bread which was served with cevapcici. Thank you so much for providing a recipe for me to share with my family.

Salad with Prosciutto and Caramelized Pears and Walnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
I thought this salad was perfect. It is a bit sweet, but with the dressing it works out. I loved the dressing because it wasn't as strong as some of the other ones out there, but still had flavor. I served this salad to about 10 people who don't like to try new things and they all gave it a shot and they all asked for more. I also didn't add all the water to the pears when carmalizing them and they turned out great.
