Too Much Chocolate Cake

I found a similar recipe years ago in a newspaper. Mine also calls for 1/4 cup Kahlua, 1 tsp. cinnamon, and 2 Tablespoons grated orange peel (which I omit because we don't prefer it). I also substitute mini chocolate chips for the regular ones because it adds that flavor without biting into a big chip. This cake also freezes well!

Oh-So-Good Chicken

This became a quick favorite in my house. I leave out the mushrooms because my family doesn't like them. I also serve it over the rice, and add a little more salsa & sour cream than called for just to make it "saucy." I have also added shredded mexican cheese over the top and crushed tortilla chips for some crunch.

Jam Thumbprints

Followed the recipe exactly. Baked a batch and waited until they were done to put the jam in, and baked a batch with the jam. I thought baking with the jam would help the jam stay on the cookie more. There was actually no difference. LOVE these cookies and they will be on the list every year for Christmas.

Easy Vodka Sauce

This didn't work for us even after doctoring it up. Used fresh garlic, italian seasoning, seasoned salt, fresh gound black pepper, a couple pinches of white sugar, red pepper flakes and extra vodka, as my cans of tomatoes were larger than the recipe stated. Even after that, it had no flavor. It was just flat. In the end I wound up adding 2 jars of store bought vodka sauce to make it edible.

Chicken Marinade

Really enjoyed the simplicity of this marinade. The sherry made it just slightly different. I only had about an hour or so to marinade, and used thin sliced chicken breasts that we grilled. Can't wait to try it again with thicker chicken breasts and longer marinating time. Thanks for the recipe.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

I am a cole slaw snob! I love this recipe. It's quick and easy. I omit the onions and seeds, but that is just due to preference. It's still good without it. I always make this with a bbq pork for sandwiches recipe from this site. Great dinner and good left over, too.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

The best. The only thing I changed was that I added a bottle of beer I had in the fridge. I cooked this in the crock one day, shredded and refrigerated until the next day. I knew by how tender it was when it shredded that it was going to be a keeper. Plus, it tasted great even before the bbq sauce. Served with a cole slaw recipe from this site. Great, EASY dinner. Thank you!

Italian Cookies II

I made these cookies and they were ok. It was a nice use for the leftover ricotta cheese. I don't think I'd make them again, however. They didn't store well, got really soggy, and seemed to lose flavor. I wound up throwing away the whole batch. I have a recipe for Ricotta cakes, which I think I will finally try next time I have leftover ricotta.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

This was my first attempt at a NY style cheesecake (other than an Italian Ricotta cheesecake - quite different). It was easy enough, and I followed other suggestions (waterbath, room temp on the ingredients)and it still cracked. So the presentation wasn't great, but the taste was really good and the texture creamy. Everyone enjoyed it. Perhaps getting it not to crack is a matter of practice makes perfect?? I would make this one again. I had leftovers, so I sliced the remainder and froze it. Hope it freezes well...

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Sorry, but this was a disappointment. I thought it would be great after all the reviews. I did make modifications as some of the others suggested, but it wasn't worth it. The gravy was bland with all the modifications. I will probably not make this again.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

I tried this recipe based upon the good reviews. I was a little disappointed as it was kind of bland, in my opinion. I found that I kept adding things to zip it up a little bit. I also didn't care for using the flour/butter starter. I didn't care for the texture.
