I made this recipe exactly as written. Although I found this recipe to be easy, and we all thought it was absolutely delicious, it did taste more like onion chowder than clam chowder.
I decided to dice 6 slices of smokey bacon, frying it until crispy, and added that to the pot in hopes of masking some of the onion flavor and it worked perfectly!
I will definitely make this recipe again, however; I will reduce the amount of onion and just use 1/2 of a large onion. I will also keep the bacon addition.
