Tar Heel Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
I'm pretty tough with recipes and only keep ones that make me gush, and this was one of them! It was sooo good. I am a brownie-lover so this was fantastic for me! One thing I would prefer is a little more solidity; it was runny even baked at 45 minutes. I think I will pop it in the fridge next time for a little bit, or even add 1-2 extra eggs so that it holds a bit of form while still remaining fudgy. However, my other brownie-loving friend said it was perfect as is, because it was like eating raw brownie dough. I served it with vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous! I will definitely make this again, and that says a lot as I have tried MANY recipes that were good, but just not good enough to remain in my recipe box. Props to the chef!

Adobo Chicken with Ginger

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
This is pretty much how I make my adobo, minus the ginger and with equal parts soy sauce/vinegar/water. My Lolo was a chef for the Navy and he made his with Teriyaki sauce, too. I like to make different variations from time to time, but I prefer the equal parts of sauces because you won't get too salty or too much vinegar. Adding water really helps for people that can't handle the taste. I do like the addition of the ginger, as used in teriyaki chicken. I can't imagine making chicken adobo without bay leaves, garlic, and pepper.... lots of pepper!!! And I agree having plain jasmine rice is the best way to eat it. Tear up your chicken after boiling for an hour, stick it over the rice, add some of the sauce to it....yummy!!!!!! (I'm Filipino)

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
This was alright; it just tasted like your typical breaded chicken. I can think of plenty of breaded chicken recipes and since this one didn't knock my socks off like the others, I won't be making it again.

Death By Chocolate III

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
I brought this to work and it took a mere hour before I could see the very bottom of my large dish. It was excellent! My second helping (which was as suggested better after being refrigerated overnight) I topped with chocolate syrup, which was a fabulous addition. The only thing I could think of that I would want to change is the consistency of the dish. It tasted good, but I did not like the way it slopped on the plate. I think next time I'm going to try to freeze it like an ice cream treat to see if it's even better that way.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
This was very good, although it was pretty much exactly the same as my much easier made strawberry shortcake minus all the effort. However, I thought the whip cream mix was to die for! I will use that part of the recipe as maybe a fruit dip or something.

Ryan's Favorite Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
Good and easy to make. I also left out the lima beans because I despise them!!! However, the addition of the kidney beans made it very hardy.

Bronco Burger

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Made this exactly as stated, and there was absolutely nothing different about it than a plain burger, other than it being soggy. Although, if you keep the jalapeno seeds, it does add the heat. That is the only difference. I'm very confused about all the reviews on here. I was so excited when I was making them after what was said, and then I ate them and wondered if I am missing taste buds or something.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This was great, but the next time I made it, I used the suggestions on the page and it definitely went from 4 stars to 5 stars. Delicious and fancy.

Dad's Famous Creamy Macaroni

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This is by far the creamiest macaroni you will ever eat. I bring this to every single cookout and people LOVE it! I am not a big fan of adding toppings and onions and anything else that takes away the basic cheesy flavor of a macaroni dish. If you are like me, you will love this recipe.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
I thought it was good and very flavorful, but I wasn't in complete awe; then again, I'm a tough critic when it comes to food. However, my boyfriend loved it and said it was a keeper, and for that, I give it 5 stars.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This was a tad bit bland for my boyfriend and I. The balsamic flavor was strong, but the chicken was soggy and it didn't hold to the meat, so it was kind of soupy.

Chicken Spaghetti Casserole I

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This was okay, but seemed a little bland and kind of generic. On top of that, I did not like the olives, but that's my own personal taste, so I didn't knock it for the olive flavor. However, it just seemed like something you would find on the side of a box somewhere.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Very basic ingredients with outstanding flavor. The boyfriend commented on how good it was. Since asparagus is his favorite, I had to give this recipe 5 stars.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This was very good, but seemed very basic like any other cole slaw I've had. So far it's the best recipe I've tried though, so it's going to be my main slaw recipe unless another one comes along.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Pretty good, but I wouldn't call it "world's best". There was something that seemed lacking for a lasagna dish; it tasted more like a baked pasta casserole. I think maybe it just needs more ricotta or something like that to set it apart from any other pasta bake... which is what makes lasagna different in the first place. It is very hardy and I will make again.

Authentic Italian Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
This sauce is very authentic with an amazing flavor. For some reason the consistency seems to turn out different every time I make it. The stove top seemed to be the best so far (tried in a crock pot, too). I think next time I will experiment and add my own homemade tomato paste (I hate using jarred anything).

Garlic Anchovy Linguine

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Pretty good, but I think I would need to add some more fish to it so I can feel full... I need meat! However, if you don't eat a lot of meat, this is a great dish for you with a bold flavor. I would give it one more star if it were hardier, but based on flavor, it's outstanding.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
These were very tasty; I liked the fact that they were creamy the best. However, next time I'll add chopped jalapenos for a nice kick, as they were quite mild. I'll definitely be making these again. Thanks!
