Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
Pretty good recipe. It almost tastes like a teriyaki recipe. I ended up caramelizing mine, which I probably would avoid doing if I made this again, as it took away from the wine flavor. Very flavorful.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2013
I rate this recipe 5 stars because it tastes good AND it is incredibly simple to make. I liked the different flavor that the brown sugar added. I followed the directions exactly as is. I had a glass loaf, so after taking it out of the oven, I got two spatulas and flipped it over so that the juices, sugar, and ketchup could soak down the loaf. I then left it in the fridge overnight and ate it the next day. The entire loaf was picked through before I could even serve it for dinner! Big hit.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
This simple recipe is AMAZING! I let it go in the crock pot for a really long time. It was PERFECT. I think next time I will add more picked stuff, like celery, etc.

Pepperoni Dip II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
I made it the night before and let it sit, which I would recommend to anyone eating this, because it pretty much just tastes like chunky cream of mushroom soup. The next day you could actually taste the pepperonis. However, it still tasted just like cream of mushroom soup. SO... I threw in cheddar, mozarella, and parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. After that, it was good, but even then I wouldn't make it again. I tried to make it similar to a pizza-taste, and served it with garlic-parmesan pita chips. Even though there was no other spices added, people complained that it was too salty, and I'm guessing that was from the pepperoni. I noticed this in a lot of other reviews. I would not recommend this, especially since there are so many 5-star dip recipes on this site to choose from.

Baked Potato Dip II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
This was a very yummy recipe!! It was the favorite among the three that I made for a superbowl party. Even the kids ate it. I did not see the point of using 2/3 of the bacon, so I went ahead and threw in the whole bag; there is nothing bad about extra bacon on anything! I used a combination of baked mini bagels and baked mini flatbreads. It was delicious!

Chef John's Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
This was very good, better than what I've eaten in the restaurants. I could not find the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese so I just got the fanciest Parmisan mix I could find in the cheese section. I would agree that it is a little too solid for my chips, so I did like another reviewer and added 1/4 cup of sour cream, which liquified it just enough with no real taste difference. I kept it in the crock pot so it would not solidify, and to keep warm. It was fantastic!

Chef John's Chicken and Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
This is pretty good - spicy, hearty... I did use dried spices, which probably made the flavors more intense, so next time I'll scale it down (although it's not a problem - it's really good just the way it is). My boyfriend raved about it, so I'd say it's a keeper! It's different than the usual chicken and dumplings I eat - probably just more herbs and spices, so it's all dependent on how you like it. I like it both ways. :)

My Mom's Good Old Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
I would consider this a basic starter that you would customize. I made it as is, but felt the need to add more juice from the pickles, quite a bit of yellow mustard, pepper to taste, and definitely celery. Once I got done adding everything, then it tasted perfect.

Simply Traditional Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
I have been looking for a "traditional" lasagna recipe for a while. Simple is better! A woman at my work makes it with this recipe and it is great! However, I prefer more ricotta, so I doubled the ricotta. Also, I was unable to spread it well, so I'm not sure how one can spread it with what the recipe calls for - I would suggest making very thin layers. Also - because my layers were thicker - I used half of the lasagna noodles. The original is definitely a keeper, but if you like the flavor of ricotta, then I say double it. I would not alter this recipe, as it is very simple and traditional, which is what I prefer. Adding too much "extras" is just another meal. And I was nervous about the spicy sausage making it taste different than the traditional flavor, but it was actually quite perfect! I've deleted all other lasagna recipes, as this is exactly what I was looking for.

Beef Nacho Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
LOVE THIS! Why do people rate stuff when they don't follow the recipe? If you are one of those people that MUST change everything about the recipe, I suggest making it as is, then putting extras to the side. This if fast, cheap - totally easy. And the mayo gave it the unique flavor. For that, I give it 5 stars. I would definitely make this again. My boyfriend added beans, rice, hot sauce, etc... I personally thought it was good just the way it was. However, it serves as a good base, and you can add to it what you prefer. Again - the mayo gave it enough zing that I did not think it needed anything extra.

Very hardy... the boyfriend loved it! There is a lot, though, so I would probably scale it down quite a bit for a house of 4.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

I served this over oil/herb angel hair pasta with creamy spinach. We mixed everything together - the boyfriend really liked it and said it was a good mix of flavors. I thought it wasn't bad, but he liked it more than me. :)

Good combination of flavors. I think I would probably try grilling or broiling... I did not so much like the "boiled" texture, but I do like the flavors.

Key West Chicken

This was pretty darn good! I have used this combination of marinades before, so I wasn't expecting anything I haven't already tasted. However, this really did end up being different than anything I've tasted and it had a great flavor. I will definitely make it again. Thanks!!
