Corn Chip Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2012
THIS IS A VERY DELICIOUS SALADI LOVE IT. BUT INSTEAD OF USING TACO SEASONING, YOU CAN ADD YOUR OWN INGREDIENTS TO MAKE IT TASTE EVEN BETTER.FOR EXAMPLE, AFTER THE MEAT IS BROWNED, I ADD 1 T. GARLIC POWDER, 1 TSP.GROUND CUMIN, 1 TSP. DRIED OREGANO, AND 2TSP. DRIED PARSLEY, PLUS 1 T CHILI POWDERED. MIX WELL WITH BROWNED MEAT, AND ADD 3/4 CUP, CHICKIN BROTH OR WATER, COOK, FOR ABOUT 2 T 4 MINS LOW HEAT, AND YOU SEE HOW MUCH BETTER THE TASTE. THESE HERBS CAN BE USED TO SEASON YOUR BEEF FOR TACOS, ETC; AISO PINTO BEANS NOT KIDNEY,KIDNEY BEANS SKIN IS THICKER& TUFF.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2012
The ingredients for this recipe are bacially ok, but I just use a dask of cumin, cumin is a spice that can be over powering. I use a teaspoon of dried oregao, no garlic salt, and regular ground garlic powder, I also use finely chopped onion, dried parsley, and instead of so much tomato sauce, I like to take diced tomatoes that you put through a blender, or use a molcaquete(stone motar), if you have one. and the juice..it makes for a much better taste, than if you use so much tomato sauce. then when it begins to simmer, drop in a very fine chopped piece of carrot and a few frozen peas for a final touch..This is Spanish rice as it is made by mexican cooks.

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
I love this wonderful salad, and have made it many times. One reviewer suggested putting the dressing at different layers, if you do this iyou will have to much dresing. My recipe calls also for chopped ham, or turkey that you layer after the lettuce peas, onino etc: then another small layer of lettuce and then the ham or turkey. I top mine by spreading the dressing on top and then sprinkle shredded mild chedder cheese. and it looks really pretty. this salad with some crusty bread makes a wonderful lunch, or as a side to a full meal. The bacon gives such a wonderful flavor. Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
Martha thank you for this recipe, I have made this smiliar rice and sausage. I am of Spanish heritage and there is nothing like this dish, I call it my comfort food.the only differrence I make is to add a 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes to give it that kick.and I too serve it with pinto beans, refried or charro, what a humble meal..again thank you for posting it, and taking me back home.By the way I do about half of the tomato sauce, and then use diced tomatoes it makes it sooooo good.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
I agree with MegaG pork tenderloin is much to dry for making pulled pork.I use a pork butt, it has just the right amount of fat to make a delicious pulled pork. I braised a 4 to 5 pound butt for about 3 to 4 hrs.the only season I use is salt and pepper. I put about 1cup of chicken stock with about 1/2 cup of apple juice .also slice 1 onion and 1 bellpepperand it is the most tender and delicious meat you can ever put in your mouth. Also I have done the bone in or boneless. pulled pork tacos in a corn tortilla with some cole slaw,!!!YES!!!

Magic Wands

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
Tim on Mar 09 gave this a 1 star rating. The vanilla frosting will not get hard unless you put it in the fridge..I make these rods at Christmas all the time and I use white chocolate bark, melt it and roll the pretzel rods in it, then i have all my sprinkles or chopped nuts in different bowls to roll the chocolate covbered rods in. I cool them on wax paper, and then I can put them in clear plastic bags for gift giving..They are very pretty and easy to make.I gave it 5 stars because it is a very good recipe, if you make them correctly'

Ann's Dirty Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
This is a great recipe, I was raised on a recipe similar to this one...Only in spanish we called it "aroz con carne", which is ground beef and rice. A few more spices, our spices, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, just enough salt and pepper to taste. instead of 2 c water, 1 can chicken broth, and enough water just to cover the rice.bring to a boil then simmer until rice is fluffy and tendeand is not soupy. serve with a side of refried beans, Delicious.

My sister in West Va gave this recipe to me, and I have made it many times..It is the best cookie I have eaten..the only fruit I put in is the candied cherries, it is unfornutate that we can only buy these at thanksgiving or christmas.I too thought the batter would not cover the fruits and nuts, but it is perfect..I highly recommend....
