Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2004
Excellent! I was searching for an easy alfredo sauce that didn't require heavy cream (I am all out!). I tried this one and this will be my staple alfredo from now on. Absolutely excellent!

Sweet and Sour Meatballs II

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2004
Highly recommended. I agree with some of the other reviews that the recipe tastes a bit heavy on the vinegar side. Nevertheless, after dipping my finger in the sauce my first words were "Yumeeee!". This would definitely make a great appetizer!

Simple Pork Rib Dry Rub

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
If you like it spicy, this rub is for your ribs. My children (and I) preferred the flavor a day later versus right out of the oven, however. The flavor was incredibly robust on the second day (leftovers) and the 'fire' had calmed down a bit. I recommend this rub! But if you don't like it hot, let the cooked ribs sit in the fridge overnight.

Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2005
My entire family loved this dish. I didn't have the tortilla chips so skipped that but added extra cheese on top. We will definitely have this again!

Fresh Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
I didn't have the jalapenos but my kids still loved it! We used it as a topping on our version of mexican breakfast burritos.

Picante Shrimp 'n' Pepper Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
My three son's loved it so much they asked that I pack it for their lunch the next day! Honestly, I had to make substitutes because I didn't have all of the fresh ingredients but it worked. I used a can of diced tomatoes with green chiles (instead of fresh tomato) and a small can of canned mushrooms (instead of fresh). To make up for the lack of fresh ingredients, I added a little extra garlic powder and basil. My family loved it - even with the on-hand substitutes. I also sauteed the shrimp in butter and southwestern seasoning a few days before. So I was actually using the recipe as a way to use up the shrimp. As I said before, it worked! And thankfully my family liked it. I will try it again without the subs!

My family loved it. I modified a bit just to get it closer to my mother's recipe (taste). I added a lot of nutmeg and a some cinnamon.

Spicy Hot Chicken Legs

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Good and my family loved it. Just wasn't hot enough for them. That is the only reason I rated it a 4.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
No more needs to be said. It was excellent! I made one batch with a bag of mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots) instead of meat for vegetarians at my dinner. Even the children enjoyed the veggie version.

Ham Stir Fry with Couscous

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
I would have given it 5 stars because my family really liked it and the flavor was good. I had to make one substitution - I used minced ginger because I did not have ground but I think the minced enhanced the flavor more. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because I felt there was a little too much corn starch. I read another reviewers comments about the same before making but wanted to try it as described first. It is definitely going in my recipe box and I will make again soon (with a little less corn starch)! Love the flavor!

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
My family loved it! I marinated the flank steak for 24 hours to really get the flavor in the meat. Because the weather was frigid, I cooked the steak on my George Forman Grille. It was ready in 3 minutes and my family ate it all! Excellent marinade. Going in my recipe box as a staple in my kitchen!

Garlic-Ginger Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
I thought the sauce tasted excellent (I am vegetarian so only tasted glaze - made for my meat-eating family). My family gave it 4 stars but I think that was a matter of preference. I love ginger, they like ginger. I give it a 5 for ginger lovers. If you don't like ginger and garlic. This is not for you. If you love them both as I do, definitely try this recipe.

Grandma's Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
Excellent when I made adjustments recommended by most other reviewers (reduce sugar to 2 1/4 cups, add 1/4 tsp baking powder, increased vanilla to 2 tsp). Definitely make with 1 pound of butter as this IS a pound cake (thus, the name)! If you don't like a very moist, buttery cake this isn't for you. My family loved it and I will make it often.

Tilapia Scampi

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2014
I used frozen tilapia and the recipe was wonderful. I followed the lead of others and cooked at lower temp (350) for shorter amount of time. I cooked it (frozen) for 30-35 minutes. It was PERFECT texture, perfectly moist. I used unsalted butter so I needed to season the fish with salt after I cooked it (and added a little pepper just to taste but wasn't necessary, just a preference). Don't make this recipe if you don't love butter. My family loves butter so we love this recipe. Buttery, moist tilapia with a nice garlic flavor. I had shrimp on hand so I topped the fish with shrimp. But I tasted the fish first so that I could rate the recipe! :) I rated it 5 stars because there is no 4.5 rating. I would have rated it 4.5 because I would have loved the tip on using salted butter or to salt to taste.
