Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
Great! I used white flour instead and trippled the seasonings. Saved the extra in a glass jar. Washing meat with hot water really helped remove the gamey flavor from the venison we were using!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
Only the crackers around the edges crisped up. Crackers in the middle stayed soft. Prefer a toffee recipe withou crackers.

Skillet Strawberry Pancake

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2012
Great alternative to pancakes. I added 1/2c wheat flour, 1/2t baking powder, 1c frozen bb. My husband wants me to try making a regular pancake dough recipe but then baking it in the iron skillet. Not sure if this would taste as good though.

Crab Salad III

Five stars with a few changes. Use real crab meat, a red bell pepper, omit the olives, use fresh herbs, and real sugar.

Quick and Simple! I used 2lbs strawberries, mashing 1/3 of them. 1/2 cup sugar. 2T cornstarch with 1/2 cup water. I also painted the pie crust with melted dark choc. and let it cool completely before putting berries in.

Cranberry Orange Relish with Orange Flavored Liqueur

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
Great! Use Grand Mariner liqueur instead of the orange liqueur for a less intense orange flavor.

Grandma Sal's Peach Kuchen

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
This is a 5 star recipes if you follow it exactly!! We didn't want to see the egg whites go to waste so we whipped them up into a merang (like the merange on lemon pie) and tossed it back in the oven for 5min to brown the merang. The merange made it a 6 star recipe!!!

Asian Ground Beef and Pepper Saute

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Flavor is good but better as a stirfry with steak rather than ground beef. I also added mushrms. And stired 1tsp cornstarch into the beef stock so the sauce would be thick.

Fruitcake

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
This had way too much butter! It spilled all over my oven and was a mess to clean up. you could probably use half the amount of butter and still have a moist cake. We wrapped the cakes in cheese cloth that had been dipped in rum, then stored them in zip-lock bags in a cool dark place for a month before eating them.

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
This is supper easy and I use it for all types of fruit. I brown the butter in a sauce pan before I pour it into the baking dish for a little extra flavor. I never have self rising flour so I add 1 tsp each of baking soda and baking powder plus 1/4 tsp salt.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
AMAZINGLY moist. We used whole milk yogret instead of sour cream. And baked it in two round cake pans. Next time i would add an extra cup of choc chips on top after the cake batter is poured into the pans, because all the choc. chips sank to the bottom so there were none on top.

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
Using ice cream sandwhiches and cool whip makes it faster. But is better if you make a choc. gram cracker crust for bottom, or lay down crushed oreoes, then layer with bryers ice cream, dark choc. hot fudge, real whip cream, and peanuts.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
I actually wrapped the chicken and some sliced polenta in raw baccon and put it in the 9x13 dish. Next time I would put the chicken on a grate in the dish so the baccon grease would drip off as it baked and leave the cheese, ranch off so it didn't just run to the bottom of the pan and mix with the baccon grease.
