Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
Let me start by saying these taste awesome however i must have done something wrong. My scones were REALLY soft and spread A LOT. I guess I'm just used to drier, crunchier scones. I'll be making these again because the KIDS love them. They're easy to grab and go.

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
These are really, really good! I'm planning on making this again tomorrow for my co-workers but I'm going to add some blueberry pie filling on top of the cream cheese. This recipe will be used often! Of course I did make some modifications to the recipe based on previous reviews (dont we all?!)... used 1-8oz package of cream cheese instead of 2 and half a stick of butter in place of the margarine. Make these you will LOVE THEM!!!!

White Velvet Cutouts

The PERFECT Rollout Cookie! Soft, tastes great, rolls out easily, holds its shape, and great for decorating... I can't say enough good things about this recipe! I used the "sugar cookie icing" from allrecipes and honestly they taste and look like they came from a bakery. I'm making them as favors for my daughters "High School Musical" birthday party. PS the "sugar cookie icing" is stackable, shiny, easy to make, and very professional looking.

Chicken with Stuffing

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
I hate to give such a poor rating but this was really nasty and pretty much tasteless. I replaced the water with chicken broth and added some chopped onion, celery on the bottom of the crock pot underneath the chicken, I also rubbed the chicken with garlic powder and a little bit of salt. That didnt help this dish... the chicken had NO flavor and the stuffing was all mushy. :(

Caramel Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Yummy! Just made this and the kids love it. The 1yr old is throwing a tantrum bc he wants more! Of course I made some alterations (dont we all?)... 1 c oil instead of 1.5, added 1/3 c cinnamon applesauce, omitted the nuts due to allergies, and made these into mini-muffins instead of a cake. Making mini-muffins makes it so much easier to pack them as a snack for the kids to bring to school, as well as, being much less messy than giving them a whole slice of cake.

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
These are so good! Gave a 4 bc I modified the recipe... 1 chopped and 1 grated small red delicious apples, 4 heaping tbsp cinn applesauce, 1/2c white sugar, 1/2 c light brown sugar, cinn and nutmeg added to the flour mixture. I made 36 mini muffins which came easily out of the pan which was sprayed with baking pam. they"re soft, moist, and the chunks of apple throughout are the perfect touch! I'll be making these over and over again. Great additions would be walnuts (next time I will def add these!) raisins, dried cherries or cranberries. Dont hesitate to make these.. your family and friends will love them!

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Soooo good! Made this along with the "baked pineapple casserole" from this site, as well as, mashed potatos and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Is it wrong for me to drink the delicious marinade? JK:) I have made a few of the other top rated pork tenderloin recipes from this site and this is def the best! FYI... I didnt have sesame oil so I just used olive oil instead.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
OMG this was awesome! I made a few alterations based on reviews... brown sugar spinkled on top, then the ketchup on top of that. I accidentally omitted the milk but it was still delicious and juicy. Instead of saltines I used Ritz and wow it was sooo much better than using bread crumbs! This will be replacing my old meatloaf recipe.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
Sooo yummy! To make these look perfect, dont make them too big. I rolled them into balls, used my index finger to make a deep hole which I filled with seedless preserves, then I refrigerated the entire cookie sheet for about 10 minutes. I baked them for about 7-8 minutes, then transferred them to a wire cookie sheet to cool. I omitted the glaze and decided to sprinkled them with powdered sugar. I get requests for these all the time from my friends who really dont like chocolate cookies.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
Superb cookie! After poking a hole in to the cookie and filling w/ jam, I put the cookies into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes... I had no issues w/ the cookies speading. The only change I made was adding 1/8 tsp of vanilla to the dough.

Crescents

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
My Nana made these every year and entire family loves them!!! She gave me the recipe a few years ago and now I make them too. All of my friends and coworkers ask me to make these during the holidays. I cannot tell you how yummy these are.. you NEED to make them! One thing I have changed is to just make them into balls because shaping them into crescents is a huge pain in the... and it takes WAY too long.

Spritz Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
YUMMY!!!! WARNING: these are highly addictive cookies! I was planning on making my traditional cream cheese spritz but when I realized I didnt have any cream cheese I searched for an alternative spritz and found this. These cookies are so darn good that the kids are fighting over them... one of them hid some cookies in his pocket!!! Yes I did make a few adjustments based on previous reviews.... I only used 2 cups of flour, 2/3 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup light brown sugar to avoid a dry cookie as some had described. I didnt refrigerate the dough and had no problems in my manuel cookie press (the batteries died on the electic one :( Do not hesitate to make these cookies!!!

Buttermilk Pie IV

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
Yummy! I've never had a buttermilk pie before and it sure was good! I made 2 standard 9in pies with some minor adjustments... I halved the sugar and right before I put it in the oven I sprinkled cinnamon and nutmeg on top. This is my new recipe to use up leftover buttermilk!!

Lilley Mashed Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
I modified this recipe to make one AWESOME side dish! First I made mashed potatos mixed with cream cheese, sour cream, salt, pepper and a little bit of milk (my usual mashed potato recipe) and put them in the bottom of glass baking dish, then I sauteed sweet onions in butter and poured the onion and butter mixture on top of the mashed potato layer, then I topped with the american cheese.... YUMMY!!!

Icy Banana Milkshake

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
Very good! A great way to use over ripe bananas. I made half the recipe to the "T" and for the other half i added some chocolate syrup... almost like a dirty banana. Both were very yummy.
