Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
These cookies are waaaaaay too sweet and they did not come out very thick or chewy either. I would like to take some of the reviewer suggestions and try them again. I will definitely reduce the sugar and chocolate chips and try refrigerating the dough and see if that helps. Otherwise, they are just too sweet to eat.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This dish was disappointing much to my surprise. It got such good ratings but my husband and I found it to be marginal at best. I followed the recipe exactly. Guess it's just not our taste.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
These are fabulous. I like my lemon bars tart, so I used 1/2 c fresh lemon juice. It wasn't too tart, or too sweet - a nice balance. I also decided to use an 8x8 square pan and I made sure to coat it generously with PAM before baking. And because I used a smaller pan, I didn't quite use all the crust, and cooked it a tish longer because the crust was thicker in the smaller pan. The crust is pretty wet and gooey but don't worry, it comes out great. My crust was brown on the sides but a very light golden color in the middle and that worked out just great. I let the crust cool completely before pouring in the filling and they came out just wonderfully. I took them out when the middle was not longer "jiggly". I didn't experience the strong "eggy" smell several people have remarked about. They were just delicious - a definite keeper!

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
This was really good. I used 2 pork loin chops so they were quite thick. I followed the recipe otherwise. The chops were tender but a little dry, which didn't bother me a bit, but for my husband I might try increasing the liquid a little to keep them from drying out as much. Nonethless, a delicious dish!

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
This was really tasty. It reminded me of Stouffer's lasagna, only this was better because it was fresher. A very good basic lasagne to make and easy to put together! I especially liked the cottage cheese because I don't care for ricotta at all. My husband gobbled up 2 big pieces, so it must have been good. Definitely worth making at least once!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
YUMMY! This was flat AWESOME. I doubled the recipe and followed it exactly except for the cream cheese -- I thought 8 oz would be too much, so I only put in 4 oz and it came out perfectly. It was better than I thought it would be. I will definitly be making this one again!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
This was flat YUMMY. I used butter instead of margarine and used 2% milk. My husband ate 3 bowls before I could turn around. This one is going in my recipe book FOR SURE!

Baked Lemon Chicken with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
This was not my favorite. It was okay but not what I expected. It is a more bland dish and my huband and I thought it could use a lot more flavor.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
Oh man, this was really yummy. I made a few changes from reading the reviews. I used a cup of each cheese, used 1 egg and raised the half and half to 2 cups. I melted the stick of butter and mixed it with the cooked macaroni, then I melted the velveeta cheese with the half and half on a very low temperature, and then poured it on the buttered macaroni, added the beaten egg, then mixed in the other cheese. I then topped it with a healthy covering of cheddar before baking. It was really awesome. It's not a gooey mac and cheese, but really good. My husband said it was the best I've made so far. Will definitely add to my recipe box.

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
Okay, the only thing wrong with this quiche is the fact that you will want to eat the entire thing in one sitting. YUMMY. This is simply delicious. My husband likes crust, so I just put it into a frozen ready made pie crust. Also, to make sure the pie crust cooks well, I first bake the crust for about 10 minutes on 400 degrees before putting the filling in it. My husband and I both loved this, and I will definitely add it to my recipe collection!

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
This was really good! I used a flat iron steak, which is always so tender. Instead of slicing the beef first, I marinated it, and then my husband grilled it. Then I cut it up and sauteed it with the green onions and some of the marinade. We served it with whole grain brown rice --it was really good! Will definitely make this one again.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
Awesome chili. The second time I made it, I didn't have celery or bell pepper so I left it out and it still came out wonderfully! I do add Rotelle, though, because I like it really spicy.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
Okay, this pie is simply TO DIE FOR. It is the best apple pie on earth and I won't bother making any other ever! The only thing I did different was I did not create a lattice, but just used the pie crust as it came, and I used the refrigerated Pillsbury Crust that comes in the rolls. I did cut lots of slits in the crust and I brushed some of the butter and sugar mixture onto the crust and it made it brown nicely and gave it a wonderful flavor. I put a pinch of cinnamon in it, but would not put any more than that because I generally don't like cinnamon in my apple pie.My family raved about it. Make this one and see how quickly it goes!!

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
This is a good soup and worth making at least once to try it. My husband really liked it but it's just not my favorite. If I make it again, I would definitely add some heat, such as Rotelle, because it was not spicy enough for me.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
This was tasty. I love cheese and wanted it to be somewhat creamy so in addition to the sharp cheddar, I added an extra cup of medium cheddar to it and put extra of it on top as well. I used about half the bread crumbs called for (maybe even a little less) and sprinkled the butter-bread crumb mixture on the top with the cheese. I'm glad I cut it back because the bread crumbs do have a distinct flavor and a whole cup would have overpowered it as the others reviewers have noted. I also added 1/4 cup milk as suggested in previous reviews and it kept it nice and moist. I loved the cottage cheese touch and the sour cream gave it a little kick. Note that the sour cream also makes it quite rich -- I found I couldn't eat as much as I normally do, but perhaps that's a good thing! This is a great alternative to traditional mac and cheese!

The Best Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
I'm not a huge banana pudding fan, but I must say this was very tasty. I actually messed up and bought the smaller size pudding and smaller size whipped cream, but it still came out yummy. On an important note--I would strongly recommend letting it chill in the refrigerator over night to let the wafers get chewy and give the flavors time to mingle. It won't taste the same if you don't (I know because I tried some a couple hours after I made it). Let it chill and enjoy!

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
I am re-reviewing this recipe. This time I used chicken tenders so they were in smaller slices and it came out PERFECTLY. The flavor was wonderful. The first time I made it, the chicken breast was just too thick but with smaller pieces, it comes out perfectly!

Slow Cooker Chicken Creole

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
This was tasty. I've made it twice. Next time I would like to add Rotella to it as suggested by another reviewer. It's so nice to just throw it all in the crockpot and come home to a hot, tasty meal.

Herbal Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
This was just not good to me. I was looking for a variation for tuna salad sandwiches and even topped this off with a slice of swiss cheese, but I still couldn't finish it. The only thing I didn't have was lemon zest, so I added a pinch of lemon pepper instead. Otherwise, I followed the recipe. The flavor just wasn't for me, sorry.
