About this Cook
I have lived in Minnesota all my life. Married for almost 20 years. No children but 4 dogs 2 of which I rescued at the Humane Society. We are avid believers in rescue for animals. I love to cook and I don't think there is much I don't love to eat even more.
My favorite things to cook
Mexican, Italian, German
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sauerkraut and dumplings, Lefse, Chocolate cake with my grandmothers chocolate frosting.
My cooking triumphs
I can cook just about anything once I set my mind to it. I am most known for my platters of Xmas cookies I give as gifts every year. I try to add a new or additional kind each and every year. Also for buns that I am requested to bring to every family gathering. And my 6 layer cakes with mousse between the layers.
My cooking tragedies
Biscuits for some reason they always seem to end up like rocks. My last batch of peanut brittle was so chewy you had to let it melt off your teeth or risk losing a filling.

Asian Orange Chicken
Loved it. I was not sure I had enough zest so i just put in a heaping teaspoon of orange marmalade. I think the real key to this recipe though is the marinating of the chicken. Next time if I'm also making egg rolls I think I will find a tempura batter and deep fry the chicken so that it is extra crispy.

Sarah's Rice Pilaf
Very good is more on the bland side but thats exactly what I was looking for to go along with my chicken and gravy. I made it exactly as written and it turned out perfect.
