The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
Oh my, these are delicious! I used white/whole wheat flour, so atleast they are a tiny bit good for you. :) I added an extra 1/2 cup of flour to make the dough more workable. I refrigerated the dough for about 3 hours before working with it. At that point I did not have any problems with rolling them out. I did use the powdered sugar to roll them out onto. Also, a specialty of my mothers is to use half vanilla half lemon extract. Very delish!

Beef Tenderloin with Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
Okay, I purchased a 3.75 lb. tenderloin and to get the center to a medium doneness, it took over 3 hrs. I ended up serving the ends which were medium at a 2 hrs. Not sure why this took more than twice as long to cook. I wanted to rate this lower than a five because of the cooking time, but if I am rating the flavor this was beyond a five! Wow, the beef melted in your mouth. The potatoes were also very flavorful and moist. I cannot afford tenderloin very often, but this will be the recipe I use over and over - I will just plan on starting it earlier for the cook time.

Broccoli with Poppy Seed Butter and Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This was very very good. Our family is huge broccoli lovers and we normally just steam it, but everyone was asking for more. Will double the recipe next time.

Chicken Enchilada Soup III

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
I gave this 4 starts only because I had to add so much to it. I added corn, diced tomatoes, and 1 can of black beans. Without these 3 ingredients the flavor would still have been fantastic, but the soup would not have been hearty enough for my family. Other than that the flavor was fabulous. I will make again.

EZ Peanut Butter Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This was almost too easy to put together. I also had every ingredient, so I didn't have to run to the store! Very creamy and wonderful. I did add an extra 1/4 cup of peanut butter and it did not taste like cream cheese or a pb cheesecake. We did drizzle chocolate topping over it right before we ate it. Will make again!

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly except substituted one cup of whole wheat flour for one of the cups of white flour. This is a wonderful/yummy bread. I made 2 large loafs instead of three. I also used toothpicks to poke holes through them right before I poured the glaze on them. MMMMM!

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I ended up making two pies, one with the struesel topping and one without. Both were fantastic! The plain pumpkin had such a wonderful spice flavor and the struesel topped pie was sweet and spicey. This will be my pumpkin recipe every year! YUM, YUM!

Moist and Savory Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This stuffing was not as good as my family and I expected. It seemed to be somewhat tasteless. Anyway, I am glad I tried something different, but I think I will stick to my 'old' ways in making stuffing.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I had never used a roaster for anything. I was told by several friends to try it, so I bought a roaster and tried it! Wow, the turkey was soooooo moist and very flavorful. I will be making Thanksgiving turkey like this more often. Update 2011 Thanksgiving: gallon bucket in garage. Covered with ice. update 2011 - used 3 boxes of stuffing and added celery and onion cooked in butter to it, then stuffed turkey. Wow, the stuffing was out of this world with flavor!

Giblet Gravy II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this gravy for Thanksgiving and it was different than what I'm used to, but that being said, it was quite delicious. Usually gravy is a little too greasy and this was not at all. Will make again!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Wow, these potatoes were very good. I was somewhat worried when the recipe did not have milk in it. The cream cheese and sour cream made up for the milk and then some. I made these for Thanksgiving - by using the slow cooker I was able to free up one of my 'spots' on the stove. So not only yummy, but also convenient!

French Toast II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This is a very easy recipe, but the taste was quite delicious! Will make again - my husband is quite picky with breakfast and he had a piece and then had to have another!

This was very easy and delicious. I marinated for about 2.5 hours then grilled for approx. 12 minutes on each side on med-high heat. The chicken was very moist and had a wonderful flavor. Will make again!

Followed the directions to a "T" and it tasted wonderful. I did not expect to be able to rate this a 5, but the taste surprised me. Will make again!

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
Wow, this was super easy. I added a little bit of salt and pepper and used the "cooking" cream of chicken soup to save on fat and calories. This had terrific flavor and the fried onions were perfect. A family pleaser here!

Raisin' the Dead Snack Mix

Wow! This was awesome. Very sweet, but for someone like me, I loved it! It was served at a Bunco game with 16 women and I only had a little bit left, so obviously this was a wonderful treat!

Slow-Cooked Tamale Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
This was good. I can't say that I would make it alot, though. It just seemed somewhat of a mushy texture. Anyway, my family did like it. I did add garlic, onion, and black beans also.

Tortellini Carbonara

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
Okay, this was a wonderful, full of flavor meal. I am only giving it 4 stars, though, because half-and-half will never thicken properly. I used 2 cups of heavy cream and 2 cups of half-and-half and it thickened beautifully! My family loved this!
