Baked French Swirl Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
very good and very easy. great because it isn't too sweet so when you add the syrup it's just right. i'll give it 5 stars because this is the first time i've eaten or made "baked" french toast so i have nothing else to compare this to.

Dilly Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
delicious and "fresh". i cut the sugar in half and added 1/2 tsp celery seed to the vinegar mixture. yum yum!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
nice and creamy. i added a chai tea bag to my boiling water and uncooked "sushi" rice. the tea gave it a nice subtle spiced flavor.excellent. i think i will try a different fragrant tea next time. will make again.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
yummmmy! i added some sundried tomatoes, green onion, and fire roasted red peppers. i'm always a little skeptical when it comes to heating up mayo based dips but make sure to heat it up as all the flavors come together. wonderful!

Dinah's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
i find this a little on the bland side. i love the idea of clams but next time i think i'll use smoked oysters and add a bit of lemon and salt. also as others suggested i'll cut the butter to 1 cup. i think if theses were cooked a little hotter (375-400 f) the mushroom would cook better. i will certainly try it again.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
i must admit i was doubtful that this recipe would live up to it's reviews but i was wrong. i substituted a sweet and spicy chili sauce for the tomato sauce and cooked them over a real charcoal grill. fabulous! juicy and tender and full of flavor! thanks a million for this super easy recipe.

Balsamic Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
this is excellent. i used "new" baby potatoes and instead of frying the potatoes first as the recipe suggests, i put them into a preheated 500 f oven for the first 15 min of the cooking time and then i lowered the temp to 400 f. i find this technique ensures you get a crispy exterior and carmelizes the sugars in the vinegar and potatoes(plus it saves washing another pan!). i also line my pan with parchement paper. everything still browns wonderfully and there is no sticking to the pan.

Penuche Sugar Fudge

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
well to be honest the taste of this was exactly what i was looking for but the texture didn't work for me. mine was extremely hard to stir and hardened too much.i may have boiled it to too high a temperature as i didn't have a thermometer. i will try again with it.

Almond Chocolate Biscotti

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
i'm sorry but this didn't work for me. i found it too sweet for a "biscotti". my hubby loved it so it just goes to show you it's just a question of personal taste.

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
loved this recipe! i have also tried another recipe for donairs but this one tastes more authentic. i tripled the recipe and added 1 tbsp of paprika to the 3lbs of meat and spices. i'm lucky enough to have a kitchenaid mixer so i knead my meat mixture with it for about 5 mins using the bread attachment. i must admit i've never been successful getting the sauce thick using canned milk. so this time i followed anothers suggestion and added sour cream until it thickened to the desired consistency. i also added a clove of garlic to the sauce. i actually prefer the taste of the sauce with the sour cream added. i will continue to make this recipe.
