Grandma's Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
pretty good but very heavy. i liked it alright but my husband didnt like the grainy texture the sauce had, due to the flour. yes, i cooked the butter/flour mixture awhile.

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2007
just made this and i was pretty sure it wasnt going to turn out, but it did! the dough was just a gross sticky blob when i baked it, it hardly rose and was pale when finished (not golden brown) but its great bread, great crumb inside. will be making into yummy sandwiches this week (fantastic w/ carmelized onions!).

Brownies III

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2007
texture is nice, easy to whip up, but a bit too oily and the flavor is lacking a bit for me...i'd recommend adding chocolate chips to help that out. dont forget to cut the salt in half, i'll cut down on the oil as well next time. i'd make again though. leftover pieces will go into homemade vanilla ice cream for my husband. yum!

My Favorite Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: May 27, 2007
just made these for memorial day. had to add a tad more liquid but they turned out great, easy to roll and cut. they're a bit bland, but icing makes up for it. i love that its chewy, not too crunchy. UPDATE: cookies were gone very quickly, everyone loved them! i think they're better the next day if you like a softer, chewier cookie.

Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
these are a little too bready for us as sandwich rolls, but they're still good. i use the recipe to make a loaf in my oven--FANTASTIC! its perfect for sandwich bread! i've been searching for a recipe like this forever! used my bread machine to make the dough and then punched down, loosely rolled up jelly-roll style and let rise about 45 min in a loaf pan. when making rolls, i scaled the recipe up to 12 buns and thats as much as my bread machine will hold as it rises.

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: May 6, 2007
this is wonderful! very easy, nice and chewy, great flavor. i used fresh thyme and basil from our garden (ya cant beat fresh!) and made the dough in our bread machine! reminds me of pizza hut breadsticks *in a way*. this will be regularly made at our house! (makes great breadcrumbs too!)

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
Yum this is really good! I took the advice of some others and added a bit more sugar to the dough (which I made in my bread machine) and cinnamon. Will be making this for the inlaw's visit next week!

Ranch Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
i didnt have many things that this recipe called for like the ranch seasoning or the yogurt. i was just making these for my husband and i for dinner tonight. we really liked the recipe, the only thing i was upset with was i used the converter for a yield of 4 buns thinking that would be more than enough; i split the dough (made in my bread machine) into 2 balls and let rise for over an hour and they were tiny! BUT, i'll make this again.

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2007
These are wonderful! Very moist and devine! I didnt have sour cream so I used light vanilla yogurt and had no lemon zest or juice so i added lemon extract to the batter and icing. I didnt follow the icing recipe exactly but used it as a reference, also added 1 drop yellow food coloring. Sprinkled poppy seeds on top of icing. I'm addicted to these!

Basic Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2007
My starter is only 2 weeks old so the sour taste in my bread isnt very distinct yet, but this is a great bread, wonderful for sandwiches, very light and fluffy, nice crumb inside. Very high riser, I was afraid it might spill over in my bread machine but it did perfectly! (I did have to add about a cup of extra water to the dough to get it to the right consistency.

Butter Tart Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
I added rum extract with the vanilla and sprinkled pecans only on the tops of muffins; didn't add raisins. Not that sweet, but they're fair, with more of a cakey texture. Corn syrup on the tops is a must!

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
These turned out beautifully as burger buns. They were a little "bready" inside but will try to make them flatter when i set them out to rise. Will make again.

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
These are wonderful! I can't tell you how many times I've used this recipe and they always turn out great. I make these for breakfast everytime we have guests stay overnight, my way of spoiling them and they love it! I took some to my husband's Coast Guard station today and they were gone by the time I left!

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
Not a fan of this bread, its too dense for us. Nice for toast, but way to dry for sandwiches, which is what I was looking for. I didnt care for the honey taste either, but thats just me. I'll feed the last of the loaf to the birds.
