It's that time of year. All Hallow's Eve is approaching and I would love to hear your ghost stories and other happenings. Some stories are creepy, some can be scarey and some can be nice knowing a loved one is near while others are just unexplainable. Whatever your story is that you would… MORE

About this Cook
I love looking at and collecting recipes and have been doing so since I was a kid. Everytime I came across something someone made that I enjoyed I would ask for the recipe. I have a nice collection now and sometimes find it funny looking at a recipe that I thought was so good or intersting then and thinking now "I liked that?".
My favorite things to cook
Homemade pizza with fresh homemade dough. My next favorite is a pot of "Sunday" sauce and meatballs. I love how good my home smells while it's cooking and love dipping hunks of crusty bread into the sauce for a taste.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Stuffing for a holiday turkey. You just can't top homemade stuffing.
My cooking triumphs
Roasting a turkey. I was always intimidated. I didn't roast a turkey until several years ago and to my surprise it came out great. A girlfriend from work taught me. Made turkey soup with the leftovers and again surprised myself because it was delicious. I never knew homemade turkey soup could be so good.
My cooking tragedies
I've had enough but at least learned.

Corned Beef Special Sandwiches
A winning sandwich recipe! Now one of my favorites. Combination of ingredients are delicious and using Russian dressing is fabulous! I used Marie's (from the cold section) because it's thick and doesn't run. Couldn't help myself and added a slice of Provolone cheese. YUM! Thanks SHORECOOK, your recipes always please.

Chef John's Chia Chocolate Pudding
Perfect!! I used coconut milk and the ratio of milk to chia seed to cocoa is dead-on perfect. I always measure light when using sugar and I'd say I used about 1.5 Tablespoons of just white. Love what the addition of instant coffee did to deepen the chocolate flavor. I didn't have chocolate covered hemp seed but I do like cocoa nibs and had them so I used them instead. Wonderful chia seed recipe. There are so many out there but this one is my favorite because the ratio of ingredient to ingredient is best and the addition of the instant coffee really does make a difference. Using full fat coconut milk from the can created a pudding the consistency of frosting and it tasted like chocolate frosting too but with little tiny crunchies of the chia seeds. Delicious!!

Saint Paddy's Irish Sandwich
Fabulous combination of ingredients. Loved it! I used a different recipe for the corned beef ... the cabbage slaw makes this sandwich great! (recipe made for *RECIPE GROUP*). Looking forward to another and another and another. Thanks bignosekate for sharing!
