I Love to Experiment in the Kitchen

Married Mother of two, Grandmother of 4 (and one more on the way), love to sing, read and meet new people. I'm a true romantic and love walks in the misty rain and falling snow with my Sweetie! My enjoyment/fulfillment comes in knowing (everyday) I've helped to make a difference in someone's life.
My favorite things to cook
I guess my most favorite thing to cook is Spaghetti (my husband loves it), next to that would be desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up ... my Mom & Grandma made EVERYTHING from scratch, so you had to prove yourself in the kitchen (smile). Everyone on my Mom's side could 'burn' in the kitchen, for the holidays Mom would always start cooking three weeks. Every Sunday my Mom would get us ready for Church and even though she was sitting there with us, we would get home and dinner would magically be ready! To this day I don't know how she did it (smile).
My cooking triumphs
My first homemade pound cake with a rum sauce glaze! Everyone loved it and I was extremely pleased. Every time I fix Collard Greens they seeme to be a hit (I mix Mustard Greens, Kale, Turnip Greens & chopped Onions with it)and I finally mastered Salmon Cakes & Sweet Potatoes (the way my Mom used to make them).
My cooking tragedies
I would have to say the first time I made Bread Pudding ... someone said it could have been used as foundation for a house (oh well). I have tweeked that process since then and am happy to say I am no longer in the home building business (smile).

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread
Unfortunately, the cookies do MELT in your mouth and leave a powedery aftertaste. My husband did not like them. I baked 2 dozen and tried to dress them up a bit by using chocolate, almonds and sprinkles. Didn't work because the cookies practically turn into to powder. Will go back to using the recipe without the cornstarch.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
Just wanted to give you an update on the how the recipe turned out (smile). GREAT!!!!! So much so that I saved one of the starter bags for myself to make more. The second time I included raisins, pecans and more cinnamon. Everyone totally loved it! I'm in the process of doing the friendship bread and I didn't know about getting the air out when I first received it and I received it on day FOUR!!! I'll see what happens.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken
Made this for a small holiday gathering and it was a hit! I used Teriyaki Noodles instead of rice.
