Pretzel Turtles®

I used rolos on the snap pretzels. They weren't nearly as good as a turtle and I didn't care for them. They were eaten all up at thanksgiving though, so people liked them. They just aren't something I'd make again.

Monte Cristo Sandwich

These were tasty but very greasy. I only made 1 layer of sandwich & cut into 4ths, they were very filling & we could only eat 2-3 squares each(although we did have green beans & grapes on the side to make it a little healthier :D) I loved the crunch but even though I drained them on paper towels we all kind felt nauseated after eating them-probably because we aren't used to eating so much grease. But give this recipe a try if you like deep fried. If I made these again I would try just pan frying them lightly instead of frying in grease.

Yummy! I love this! I used more than 8oz salsa, just a whole jar (I think it was 12-16 oz) and an extra can of kidney beans. Yum Yum Yum!

Cream Cheese Blueberry Pie

I used 8oz cream cheese & added vanilla. I used fresh picked blueberries that had been frozen.....the skin was chewy and I did not like that. Would love to try it with strawberries or fresh fruit! YUm

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Good flavor, I used 1/4 cup soy, honey, brown sugar, & ketchup. Threw in frozen chops, but one note--Use boneless pork chops because they are so tender they fell off the bones when serving & we were fishing for the small bones.

Oatmeal Chip Cookies

These cookies are ok, I prefer my standby recipe if I want choc chip cookies however. I thought these would be great and healthy and taste more like an oatmeal raisin cookie just with choc chips in place of raisins. Nope. The texture is nice, crunchy edges with chewy center but the oatmeal taste was just that of dry oats....disappointing.

Spiced Pot Roast

Very tasty, I put mine in the crock pot and let it cook on low 6-8 hours. About 2 hours before it's done I dump in a 16oz bag of baby carrots. I also use 4 cups of beef broth. I double the seasonings as well. Yummy with homemade mashed potatoes.

The Best Lemon Bars

This has a nice flavor but I made mine in an 8x11 glass dish and the crust was soooo thick. Too thick I think, and yes I had to cook the crust longer-until lightly browned. If you are going to use a pan this size I would increase the filling by double to make up for the thickness of the crust bc keeping it as is it was 1/2 and 1/2 for thickness. Everybody loved them though! My first time making lemon bars super easy and yummy.
