A Very Popular BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2014
Delicious! And fun to make! (I prepared exactly according to the recipe). It was a tad sweet for our taste so next time I will cut back on the sugar. And will try simmering to really marry the flavors. Infinitely better than bottled sauce.

This recipe couldn't be more simple or more delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and wouldn't change a thing.

Russian Style Creamy Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
We had this last night and it was completely delicious. I can't think of a single thing I would change. (However, in the interest of full disclosure, I left out the heavy cream. It was still very creamy).

Rachel's Cranberry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
Delicious and easy to throw together and is particularly good as a dip for pita chips. I was looking for a dish to use with leftover roasted chicken. I followed the recipe exactly. This will be our go-to chicken salad.

Romaine and Mandarin Orange Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
I made this for dinner last night and it's a keeper. I especially appreciate how easy this is to make. The dressing is just a good all-around salad dressing. Like others, I cut the sugar down to 1/2 cup.

Slow Cooker Lemon Pepper Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2013
Tasty and simple. We found whole chickens for .99 per pound which also made this more economical than the rotisserie chicken from the grocery. The meat was falling off the bone. I used the leftovers to make a soup.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Wing Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2013
An easy, elegant soup with great depth of flavor. The flavors are much more complex than you would expect for such a simple recipe. I halved the recipe in order to cook this soup in my 4-qt. slow cooker. I eliminated the potatoes because they wouldn't fit and also left out the celery due to preference. For the hot sauce, I used "Trappey's" brand. My husband loved it as much as I did. This is a soup I will make again and again.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
DH made this today following the recipe almost exactly (minus the poppyseeds). It tasted fresh and delicious. I thought it might be bland but the simple sauce really brings out the flavor of the fresh cabbage. We wouldn't change anything next time except maybe add carrots for color.

Crab Stuffed Flounder

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
We used the Old Bay seasoning that many others recommended. However, next time we will use the cajun seasoning because this dish (for our taste) needed another level of flavor. Other than that, the recipe was right on the money. We are 2 and used the 12 oz. pack of frozen flounder fillets and a 6 oz. can of crabmeat - this resulted in the proper ratio of stuffing and fish. We also left off the mayo topping and made out own butter/lemon juice drizzle. Update: we had these again tonight with the planned changes. We used 1.5 tsp. Zatarains's seasoning instead of the Old Bay and the flavor was right on the money. This time we also substituted shrimp for the crabmeat and it was just as good if not better. Served with a nice Chardonnay and we are still happy hours later!

Oil Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
The oil-based crust recipe is soooo much easier to make than the butter and lard-based. I'm thrilled to have found it. This is one you can practically throw together. I prefer 2 thicker crusts so I used 3 c. flour, 1/2 c. milk, 3/4 c. oil and 1.5 tsp salt. It was so easy and tastes so good I doubt I will go back to the more labor-intensive method.

Simple Slow Cooker Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Oh yeah! Had this tonight (completely unmodified). The recipe makes enough for 2 meals for 2 grown-ups. Honestly, it was hard to stop eating! I was skeptical about the consistency of a slow cooker meatloaf but it was perfect. (It's nice not to worry about overdoing it in the oven for the dreaded dried out meat brick). I was also curious about using 1/2 sausage but it really enhanced the flavor.

Baked Fresh Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
A truly delicous cherry pie with simple and uncomplicatd flavors which is the hallmark of any good fruit pie, IMO. I used very sweet fresh cherries so cut back on the sugar which was a mix of brown and white. Also left out the almond extract. Next time I will try the frozen pitted cherries if I can find them. Loved the taste of fresh - the pitting process, not so much.

Really good. Hubby and I just finished the first slices of this. I used a combination of D'Anjou and Bosc pears. Will definitely make again.
