World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
Delicious, even with my huge mistake. I added 1T of pepper instead of 1/4t. So, ours is very peppery, but still delicious. I added an extra T of chopped fresh basil and about 1/4c Cabernet and reduced the water by he same amount. Can't wait to make this again with the correct amount of pepper :)

Sausage and Bean Ragout

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
Totally flavorless until I added A LOT more seasoning. Followed the recipe exactly and found it to be very bland. Had to doctor it up with lots more dried basil and added dried oregano, bay leaf and garlic powder, as well as black pepper. Probably will not make again. Kids wouldn't touch it. Also looks unappealing.

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
Delicious!! Even better on the second day. I made minor tweaks--added a T of thyme and raw garlic to the water for poaching the chicken/cooking the noodles. I also used half the butter and increased the crackers to 1 1//2 cups as someone else suggested. I used chicken and herbs condensed soup, healthy cream of mushroom and light sour cream (slightly less than one cup.) I also added a small can of drained mushrooms. I will definitely make this one again. Thanks for the great recipe.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
These were delicious, easy to make cookies. I added 1/2t of cinnamon and a few grinds of sea salt to the batter. Yum. I used smuckers red raspberry spreadable fruit and used about 1/4t per cookie. As others suggested, I replaced the 2 egg yolks with one whole egg. It took the full 10 min in a gas oven. I'll definitely make these again. Thanks for the recipe!

Pesto Chicken Florentine

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
This was delicious! My husband and two boys (7yr & 3yr) loved it too. I tweaked it--I added more spinach and sauteed chopped onion with the garlic and added mushrooms when the chicken was almost done cooking. Yum! Next time, I'll add more garlic and even more spinach and mushrooms. I used the dry alfredo seasoning packet to make the sauce and bought a slightly more expensive pesto...well worth it. Thanks for the great recipe!

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
This is a delicious, easy recipe that my family loved. I modified it slightly by chopping up half a small onion and browning it in butter and then brown the sirloin pieces with the onion before putting it in the oven. I also used a can full of milk (non-fat) instead of the water and added about half a cup of pinot noir. It was amazing. My husband and boys (7yrs & 3yrs) gobbled it up. I served it over buttered egg noodles and had plenty of sauce/gravy. Thanks for the great recipe. I will make this again!

Acorn Squash Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
This is a great recipe. My husband and two boys (6 & 3yrs old) really liked it. I'm not sure my kids would have even tried it if the bacon wasn't crumbled on top--they were glad they tried it! I made a few tweaks--added a bit more broth so it wasn't so thick, used fat-free half and half to make it a bit healthier and upped the curry powder by another 1/4t. Yummm. The consistency wasn't perfect--just a tiny bit gritty gritty, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars, but I will still make this again. It may have been something on my end. Also, to cook the acorn squash, I cut it in half, removed the seeds and placed each half face down in a 9x13 dish with about an inch of water. I baked it at 350 for about 45 min. Thanks for the great recipe!

Delicious Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
This casserole is pretty good. It's not fantastic, but it is good. I added an extra cup of rice and subbed a can of cream of celery soup for one of the cans of cream of chicken. I also omitted the butter from the crackers--it isn't needed. I added one cup of shredded cheddar. I'm glad I did--it adds a bit of extra flavor. It's a bit on the bland side, but still good. I hope my kids like it as much as I do.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Love this recipe! I only made minor modifications--I used all chicken stock instead of water and subbed cannelloni beans for the green beans. I added a little more spinach than it called for and I put 1 c of uncooked pasta right into the soup. It is delicious! My kids love it too. Thanks for the great recipe

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
My husband, 5 yr old and 2 yr old loved this recipe. The only change I made was to use 1 lb sage sausage with 1/2 lb plain ground sausage and increased the other ingredients to match 1 1/2 lbs of pork. I also subbed butter for the bacon grease. A delicious, easy meal--especially if you use refrigerated biscuits. Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
Amazing cake. Love, love, love it. I followed the recipe exactly, but it took about 1hr, 20 min to bake. I also reduced the powdered sugar in the frosting to 2.5 cups. Will definitely make again. Thanks for the great recipe!

Collins Goulash

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
This one is 3-4 stars. It's pretty bland, but my kids will like it. If I make it again, I'd probably add some beef bouillon granules for flavor--maybe parsley too. I had already added diced garlic and onions to the beef when it was cooking, as well as some black pepper. Also, this recipe makes a lot!! I have some in the freezer....Good recipe, just not my favorite.

Couscous Salad with Dried Cherries

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
This recipe was very good and everyone in my family liked it, but it isn't quite a 5 star dish in my opinion. Maybe my balsamic vinegar is a little off, but the flavor was slightly off. That being said, I will make this again, but try using a different balsamic or perhaps a little less.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
This is the best banana bread I've ever made. I made a few minor changes: I used 4 bananas instead of 3, added 1 tsp vanilla, added 1 tsp cinnamon and subbed 1/2c of the white sugar for 1/2c brown sugar. It is amazing. My husband and 2 year old both ate 3 pieces for breakfast. Thanks for the great recipe!

Banana Cake IX

Delicious! Especially with a little cool whip on top. I used 1 stick of salted butter for the shortening/salt. Turned out great. I'll make this again when I need to use old bananas. Thanks for the recipe.

Thai Green Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
I would give this 4 1/2 stars, if I could. I cut back the sugar a bit and substituted chopped yellow onion for the green onion and it turned out great. I also added one potato, one sweet potato, zucchini and shredded carrots. You could add pretty much anything and it would be great. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken 'n' Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
My family loved this tonight. I modified it slightly--I used 2 cans of cream of chicken soup (low sodium) and increased the milk to one cup. I used crushed potato chips instead of the french-fried onions. I also used refrigerated biscuits. It came out great. This recipe will now be part of our regular menu!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
My family enjoyed the sandwiches. It's not exactly like a Chicago-style Italian beef, but it's still delicious. I used 3 cups of beef stock (no salt added) and about 1/2 a cup of zinfandel for the liquid instead of water. I also used 2 packages of italian dressing, as others suggested. I used a chuck roast and it turned out great. My roast was just over 4 pounds and it cooked fairly quickly. It was done within 7 hours. I shredded it at 7 hours and turned the crockpot down to low/warm for another hour and a half or so. I'll make this again.

Butterscotch Banana Drops

These were pretty good. A good use of overripe bananas. I added a tsp of vanilla--I think it could have used some cinnamon. My husband liked these a lot. We'll see what the co-workers think tomorrow

Pineapple Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
I used this recipe to make muffins. They were great--I got lots of compliments on them at work. I would not make these without nuts. I would cut back a bit on the sugar next time--it was just too much sugar. I used 2 overripe bananas and one green banana, as well as fresh pineapple. The recipe made 30 muffins--and it took 32 min to bake the muffins. I will make this recipe again.
