Pierogies

Submitted by: gclark
This is Great-grandmother's old recipe for real pierogies, those tender little pillows of sour cream dough stuffed with mashed potatoes, fried in butter, and served with fried onions. You can make them ahead and freeze them after boiling, then fry them up on the big day.

Pierogi from Granny

Submitted by: silkdiver
Beef and pork-filled pierogi make a great traditional Polish meal. This is a recipe my Polish grandmother used to make. Although I don't like a lot of Polish food, this is a family favorite I love. It is a lot easier and faster if two people make it together.

Sekanice (Easter Meatloaf)

Submitted by: Kelley W
This is a recipe my Bohemian grandmother used to make for Easter every year. I was fortunate enough to have learned how to make it before she passed away and my family says I nailed her recipe on the head. The key: lots of garlic and chives and onions! Sorry the quantity is so large, but I have no idea how to scale it down much more. My grandma said 'back in the day' there were a lot of Bohemians in the neighborhood and they would use crates of eggs and make the mixture in the bathtub!
