Growing up, my Mom used to make barbecued beef in the crock pot and it always tasted so good. It's definitely comfort food for me. After I got out on my own, I was determined to make barbecue beef just like hers, so I tried lots of recipes and finally came up with one of my own. I was so pleased! I called her to tell her and she laughed. She had always just used a bottle of barbecue sauce! We still laugh about that and now I've had to give her my recipe! HA!

This combines my love of the New Orleans-style olive salad that you find on muffaletta sandwiches and Italian olive tapenades. With so many olives how could you go wrong? I use it on fish, sandwiches, dips, and in herbed breads.

This is a recipe I came up with while trying to figure out what to do with stuff I had on hand. It was so good my husband asked me to publish it and share it with the world. Southwestern food is my specialty. It is especially good with the Fabulous French Loaves recipe on this site.

With onions, apples and cheese, these quesadillas are a surprising change from typical versions, reports Heather Kahn Gisi of San Dimas, California. They have sweet and savory flavors I just love. I cut them into quarters and serve them for brunch along with scrambled eggs and fresh fruit, she notes.

This is great for turkey leftovers. Simple, quick and flavorful. This is a good one for substitutions too. I've used white wine in place of lemon, sour cream in place of yogurt, chicken in place of turkey and Indian naan in place of the pita. Enjoy!

This recipe is made just like a grilled cheese, except with applesauce. The applesauce kind of soaks into the bread as it cooks. This is a great snack that my Mom used to make for me as a child. My children love this as a 'late night' snack.

The nutty smell of the sesame oil permeates the kitchen as these burgers are frying. While not authentically Asian, the taste distinctly hints at the flavors of the East. I created this recipe when I accidentally thawed out ground beef instead of chicken breast. Naturally, burgers were the quickest and easiest option.

This open-faced egg and artichoke melts are a favorite at Jill Gross' home in Roselle, Illinois. 'The Dijon mustard adds a nice zip, making them more exciting than plain grilled cheese,' she says. 'When my husband can't make it home for dinner, I treat myself to this sandwich instead of making a whole meal.'
