Ham and Cheese Checkerboard Sandwich with Relish Mayo

Checkerboard sandwiches are made with two kinds of bread. Make the fun checkerboard pattern by cutting the sandwich in quarters and flipping over two of the four sections. For this ham and cheese checkerboard sandwich, make the checkerboard with rye and Italian-style white bread.

I came up with this recipe because I always enjoy pickles on the side with my basic grilled cheese sandwich. So one day I decided just to put my pickles on the sandwich in addition to some other favorite ingredients. I think it turned out really delicious!
