Tired of ordinary old apple pie? Well this fabulous recipe adds a delicious twist to the apply classic. Sliced, unadorned apples are mounded into a pie crust and topped with a lattice crust. Then, just before baking, a sweet, thick sugar syrup is poured carefully onto the crust. An hour later, the apples are tender and fragrant and the crust a glistening brown.

Everything is stirred together in one big bowl: fresh pumpkin, brown sugar, spices, evaporated milk and eggs. Then the mixture is poured into a prepared pie crust that 's baked, cooled and refrigerated overnight.

Frozen Cranberry Salad

Sweetened whipped cream is folded into a bowlful of delicious offerings - whole cranberry sauce, crushed pineapple, cubes of cream cheese, and chopped nuts. This is poured into a loaf pan, frozen and cut into beautiful slices. Serves ten.

This is the only pumpkin pie recipe I've ever used. It's been in the family for at least sixty years! Since, in our family, one pie is never enough, I like to triple the filling recipe and divide it into two pie shells, since, as my Mom always says, "No body likes a skimpy pie!" (Of course, this will add a few minutes to the baking time, too.)
