This stew is great for St. Patrick's Day. The mixture of the beef and Guinness is awesome! I usually add more beer than the recipe calls for. Serve with mashed potatoes.

When I was in high school, I worked for an Irish family...and they made these yummy treats each year for St. Patrick's Day. The sweet frosting and salty peanuts are an irresistible combination. The only complaint my husband has is that I make them just once a year! -Bridget Jones, Veyo, Utah

'I first tried this fuss-free way to cook traditional corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day a few years ago,' reports Karen Waters of Laurel, Maryland. 'Now it's a regular in my menu planning. This is terrific with Dijon mustard and crusty bread.'

This traditional Irish dish is the centerpiece for many a St. Patrick's Day table. Pre-seasoned corned beef - available at most grocery stores - takes a long, lovely simmer with potatoes, carrots and cabbage for a hearty and satisfying dish.

THE comic strip Maggie and Jiggs inspired me to serve this meal. Whenever Maggie asked Jiggs what he would like her to cook, he answered, 'Corned beef and cabbage.' My husband liked this meal, too, and I always enjoyed making it for potluck suppers and other gatherings. -Daisy Lewis, Jasper, Alabama

While Colcannon seems to be associated with St. Patrick's Day, I love the combination of potatoes, cabbage, onion and bacon all through the cooler months of Fall and Winter! I attend an annual St. Patty's Day party and this is the dish I'm always asked to bring... and I'm happy to say that the bowl comes home empty every time!
