Slightly sweet golden squash is topped with a savory herbed cheese-breadcrumb topping. It's been my signature dish every Thanksgiving for the last 12 years. It takes a bit of work, but it is so, so worth it. Your guests will ask you for the recipe, so be prepared.

Having company over to watch the big game? This is a delicious, macho, and easy recipe for all sporting fans and tailgaters alike. These juicy bratwursts melt in your mouth and are even better when washed down with an ice-cold beer. Prepare in the morning and they will be ready for any afternoon game time.

Stew Beef Sauerbraten

Submitted by: Edwina Hoffer
This is the quickest and easiest way to make Sauerbraten that was handed down by my grandmother. Our family has always used a pressure cooker. However, a Dutch oven or large pot may be substituted but this would increase the cooking time.

Sheboygan Grilled Brats

Finishing bratwursts in beer sauce just make them better. Around our house, we eat them with ketchup and mustard, and the cooked onions from the brat sauce.

Here is a great recipe for authentic German Sourdough Bread. This bread tastes almost exactly like the bread we buy back home in Bavaria, Germany. There, to this day, they bake their bread in a very old stone oven in the middle of a small village, once every 2 weeks. They bake a whole bunch at once, and then you can buy it and freeze extras until the next baking day. It's the best German bread I know!

My Bavarian Oma made these large dumplings to accompany roast pork or game dishes, any meat with gravy, or with mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Serve one dumpling alongside your meat, and cover with a little gravy.

Deep fried dumplings with seasoned ground beef. This is a favorite in Germany. Our family is German and my grandfather taught me how to me it! Recipe sounds odd. Take a chance. I guarantee your family will love it!

This is a delicious dish I ordered again and again when I was stationed in Germany with the Army. It is best served with French fries to clean up the remaining gravy and a nice garden salad.

A traditional recipe from Bavaria and Baden-Wurtemberg, totally vegetarian, do always serve together with a salad in a sour dressing e.g. simple oil & vinegar-dressing!

These are the best French Fries - the sugar solution has something to do with the carbohydrates, but by doing it they don't soak up so much grease, so they get crunchy.
