We created this spaghetti sauce because my wife did not like thick sauce. Therefore, we came up with this recipe and have used it for over 20 years. We are always asked for the recipe, but, until now, had never given the recipe to anyone. Hope you enjoy!!

Some garlic breads taste more like buttered toast. Not this one - the fresh garlic flavor really comes through. Parmesan cheese on top turns golden brown in the broiler. I enjoy the crunch of the crisp crust. -Gina Squires, Salem, Oregon

This wonderful accompaniment could not be tastier or simpler to make. Minced fresh garlic is key to these flavor-packed crusty slices, which our big family would snap up before they even had a chance to cool. -Grace Yaskovic, Branchville, New Jersey

This is a great recipe for those who love spicy food. If not, simply omit the crushed red pepper. This recipe will have your family eating the leftovers out of the refrigerator. A piece of advice: use the best vodka you can - it really makes a big difference! Serve with pasta, and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.

This is very meaty and not near as acid as most sauces. It's really worth the time. It makes a very large batch, so I often freeze half.

Field Grade Spaghetti Sauce

The delightful surprise ingredient in this sauce is cinnamon, and I guarantee that it's absolutely delicious! In the military, the term "field grade" is for Colonels and Generals, as in "He's a field grade officer." That's how this recipe got it's name...by being the cream of the crop! It's one of the many recipes I've accumulated as a military wife for almost 30 years. This sauce freezes well.
