I found this recipe in a local farm publication. I guess that's fitting, because whenever I make it, I use fresh vegetables grown on our farm. This hearty recipe comes in handy whether you're feeding some hardworking farmers, or a large group at a potluck supper. I've found that a shredder works well for preparing the vegetables and cuts down on baking time.

Melted butter, brown sugar, and dill complement the carrots while bringing out their natural flavor. This recipe is number 1 on the request list when friends come for dinner.

Kale Soup

I merged the best of two family recipes, then fiddled a bit. Pretty easy. Very spicy if you use hot Portuguese sausage. Both the sausage(chourico or linguica) and jarred peppers (Pimenta Moida) are available online if you don't have a Portuguese market in your town.
