This is a traditional Italian appetizer that is, essentially, liver pate served on toasted, rustic bread. This is a nice recipe for cocktail parties and wine tastings. For vegetarians in attendance, you can also prepare a version with finely chopped (and drained) herbed tomatoes as it is equally delicious. You can serve the dish hot or cold on toasted Italian bread.

I had this in an Italian Restaurant close to home. This is my version. Make extra because these little treats disappear rather quickly.

Tasty and exotic, these Malaysian shrimp fritters are easy to prepare. Fresh shrimp, chives, onions and bean sprouts are mixed into a flour and water batter and fried by the spoonful in oil. Enhance with a spicy chili sauce, if you wish.

Fresh oysters are cooked open face on the grill with a rich seasoned butter. This is concoction was developed by my buddy and I during a block party. We had people standing in line. Be sure to use leather gloves when shucking hot oysters. Sounds like a pain, but well worth the work.

Figs are stuffed with a bourbon and honey goat cheese, then dipped in nuts before arranging on a platter to serve. These are one of my favorite things to make. They are fun to make, look beautiful for dinner parties especially if arranged with grapes or mint leaves, are also wonderful as bite size snack and are dangerously tasty.

An Egyptian spice blend that is wonderful. The more you eat it the more addictive it becomes. Serve with toasted crusty bread (Turkish bread is great for this), and olive oil. Dip bread into olive oil, then into the hazelnut mixture and enjoy this unique and addictive mix.

These easy butternut squash ravioli are a terrific way to use up leftover roasted butternut squash. They can stand in equally well as either the ideal appetizer or as an elegant main dish for dinner. The secret? Wonton wrappers instead of pasta make these ravioli incredibly easy.

This onion dip is a hit with all of my friends. Sometimes I throw in some fresh herbs from the garden too. They can't believe it isn't made with sour cream because it tastes great! For really low fat, use nonfat plain yogurt. Perfect for dipping potato chips or veggie sticks.

This is an easy gourmet appetizer. I've brought this to several parties and it is always a hit! I often add some chopped green olives to the olive mixture and a little more balsamic. Goat cheese may also be used in place of the cream cheese. Serve with slices of French bread or crackers.
