These cookies are formed by cookie cutters. By using a toothpick to make a hole in the top of the cookie, you can hang them on the tree. You can also make paint out of egg yolks, and food coloring to make them more colorful--use as much food coloring as needed to create desired hue. My girls and I would spend hours making these cookies each Christmas so we could hang them on the tree.

Mom always used the same round-headed cookie cutter to make her boys. They always came out of the oven soft and chewy with plenty of traditional molasses-ginger flavor. --Donna Sasser Hinds, Milwaukie, Oregon

These are tiny gingersnaps that pack a punch of flavor! I call them 'midnight' because they taste dark and mysterious to me. They are similar to the German pfeffernuss (peppernuts).

These cookies are so versatile! They are delicious, naturally low-fat and even make terrific Christmas ornaments that keep for years. Royal Icing is best for decoration. CAUTION: These cookies have a way of disappearing!

This is one my mum in England used to make when we were kids. It was always the biggest hit every year. Use your imagination and a variety of candies to make doors, windows, pathways, and a garden. Note, this gingerbread house takes 2 to 3 days to complete. You can buy a variety of candies for decoration.

These scrumptious little cuties taste great decorated with icing or just left plain. For a darker, spicier cookie, use molasses instead of corn syrup.
