Yummy and EASY!! I didn't use water, used all chicken stock. I also used diced canned tomatoes instead of crushed tomatoes because that's all I had and it was delicious! I bought chicken breast, boiled it with some garlic, then shredded it. Great chunky, hearty soup! Will be making again and again!

Good recipe but i believe my changes made it great thanks to listening to other reviews 1) I uped the veg by starting with a holy trinity instead (onion, celery and green pepper - 1 cup each) sauteed in butter and EVOO for 20 - 30 minutes 2) then seasoning - I used (1 tsp each) Chili powder, Ground cumin & Oregano 3) I added 3 cups homemade stock & no water and 1 can crushed tomatoes & simmered very low for 20 - 30 minutes 4) Then I added turkey (leftover from Thanksgiving), green chilies, corn, black beans and cilantro - sorry no hominy (I live in the sticks) & simmered very low for 20 minutes 5) I garnished with sour cream, lime wedge, cilantro and picked jalapenos

This is absolutely delicious. I love all the veggies - I use the entire can of corn and hominy. I add a sqeeze of fresh lime juice on each serving, and this gives the broth such a great flavor. Also, frying your own corn tortilla strips is totally work the extra effort. Their texture hold up so much better than plain chips.

Does anybody know where all the fat grams come from? It says 19 grams per serving. Avocado has 4.5 and 1 oz of jack cheese has about 8. Thank you in advance!

Delicious and easy to make. Like so many others I did some tweaking (no water / all chicken broth, no oregano / add cumin, add Tabasco, salt and black pepper) but the base recipe still deserves a whole lot of credit. This recipe was so good I actually signed up here just to post this review. And having been a lurker her for many years, that says a lot.
