These are delicious! I make them with Golden Crisco and just over 1tsp of salt. These are just like my mennonite/russian/german grandma made but since she's 88 she doesn't bake that often anymore. Even grandma approves!

Was good, not as fluffy as I'd like it to be.

Never having tried these before, I'm not sure what the taste is meant to be like, but my family loved the "funny looking rolls" I put on the table. I did take the other reviewers suggestion and adjust the salt to 1tsp.

This is a VERY, very nice recipe. I've made it twice and it's turned out great both times. The only thing I'd recommend changing is the amount of salt you put in. 1 tablespoon is a LOT, it made my dough taste like salt-water, but I doubled the other ingredients and it came out nice. So I put just 1 teaspoon in the second batch, and it's a lot better. It's easy to make and tastes wonderful! I'll definitely be making this more often.

Zwieback is a family favorite. I love the fact that you broke down exactly how to divide the dough. My zwieback is now very uniform!! We eat it with cheese, meat & jelly as well. But the preferred way is with brown sugar, YUM!

Zwieback rolls are delicious, and I would definitely recommend that you try this recipe. I added some powdered peanut butter to it for fun.
