This was the first roast I cooked for my wife and the results were spectacular. My wife is a prime rib fan and she loved this roast recipe. This dish is now in our primary dinner rotation. Simply put this roast was outstanding!

This is delicious! The meat was very tender, the gravy turned out beautifully, and the subtle horseradish taste gave an extra boost to plain roast beef. My husband liked it too, and I will make it again.

This recipe is definitely a keeper. Always have horseradish on the table with beef but never thought of putting it on the beef before roasting. My husband is a retired chef and raved about this dish.

Moist and delicious. Made as written. I even attempted the gravy. Mine turned out a little lumpy, but it was totatlly my fault. It complimented the beef so well. Thank you for sharing. This will become a staple at my house.

Excellent! Very easy to make and the rave about the gravy is right on. Fast and simple. I made roasted veggies on the side in Balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, thyme, rosemary, salt & pepper. Nice meal.

Easy to put together, and everyone seemed to like it. Makes a lot of gravy, which my family will use for hot rast beef sandwiches later in the week. Thanks!

This recipe is definately a keeper. Probably the best non roux gravy I have ever made or tasted. Suprisingly the horseradish really mellowed out and left a very slight sweet taste. I had it with mashed potatoes and green beans. Thanks!

AMAZINGLY GOOD - the horeseradish taste doesn't stand out, adds a little zip and blends well with all the flavors. I've tried many beef roast recipes, and this one has now become my favorite!

This was pretty good..definitely going into rotation. I had a roast just under 2 lbs., so I only baked it for 1.5 hrs. I served it over mashed potatoes. Yum.

I made this with a sirloin tip roast, added some carrots and garlic, but otherwise kept the recipe as written. It was very tender and moist and had a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor ... nobody I served it to even recognized the flavor of horseradish. I would give it a higher rating but for the fact that it was surprisingly mild, almost bland. If I make it again I think I will increase the horseradish and also run it under the broiler for a few minutes at the end.

I followed the recipe exactly, yet I found this to be pretty tasteless and almost sweet. The roast was very tender and was good with gravy, but I won't be using this recipe again.

My husband is a big fan of horseradish(I'm not), so I thought I'd give this a try. My roast was bit bigger so I didn't measure, I just slathered the top with the horseradish--probably used at least a half a cup. Much to my surprise it just adds to the depth of flavor. There's a tang to the gravy but it doesn't scream "horseradish". I thickened the gravy with cornstarch as I usually do. I think the horseradish/onion gravy would also be really good with meatballs. Thanks for sharing your discovery!

My family and I liked this roast ok. We are huge horseradish fans, so we just had to give it a try. Although the horseradish gives an interesting twist on this dish, I don't think I liked it enough to make it again. Thank you Joan for coming up with this recipe and giving us the chance to try it!

Loved it - whole family had two helpings and believe me they are picky eaters. Only changes I made was to use vegetable broth instead of beef and I didn't add any flour -

I made this in my slow cooker because I was going to be gone all morning. I didn't change anything but, added a few potatoes. I thought it tasted exactly like every other roast I've ever cooked. I could not taste the horseradish and neither could my husband. I have to say, there was really no zest to it. I wonder if it depends on the brand of horseradish and Is there a difference between horseradish and horseradish sauce?

NOT zesty, really rather boring. I could not finish this, it almost reminded me of cafeteria food instead of a home cooked meal! My husband didn't like it and my guest was polite but he didn't much. I didn't change a thing.
