These are absolutely wonderful and easy to make! I brushed the tops with egg and sprinkled lightly with fine sugar before baking~delicious!

I have used this recipe twice now with great results. I use raisins in mine and received raves from a faculty function. Thanks.

I made serveral batches of these for a holiday tea. I found that freezing the butter and grating it into the flour mixture was easier than using a pastry blender with soft butter and the result was just as delicious. This is a terrific recipe for scones!

Easy and as they should be. I skipped the raisins and also used plain yogurt instead of sour cream, and buttermilk instead of the milk. You make me look good, thanks!

I was not terribly impressed. The scones from the bakery down the street were far superior than my fresh-baked ones from this recipe, so not worth the trouble. Also the scones got hard very quickly, but the next day they are inedible.

A great scone recipe! Thanks so much for sharing. They are great plain and with a wide variety of additions, raisins, chocolate, fruit etc. I only use three teaspoons of baking powder (one tablespoon)

This truly is the best recipe! I used orange flavored craisins instead of raisins and they turned out great! This has become a family favorite and most requested breakfast item when friends and family come to visit.

A little too sweet, which is why I didn't give them five stars. But a great basic recipe that's easy to adjust. I've used plain yogurt instead of the sour cream and buttermilk instead of the milk. You can also cut back on the butter to about 3 tablespoons and they still taste delicious. To avoid overworking the dough, I just put it in a cast iron skillet, cut it into wedges and bake it that way.

I just came across this recipe recently and have made it several times. This is a great recipe and so easy to make. I made 2 batches tonight one with craisins and dried nectarines and the other one with chocolate chips and dried nectarines and they both came out great. My family loves this recipe. I also increased the sour cream to 1/2 cup instead of 1/4 cup and the scones were nice and moist.

My husband is a Scotsman and he said these were excellent scones, much lighter even than most of the scones you get in Scotland. I have tried recipes from every known source but this will be my recipe from now on.

I love these! One time I made it they didn't rise right, but all other times they've been spectacular! One time I didn't have the sour cream, so I subbed plain yogurt and they were jast as good! I dust the top with sugar over the egg wash for a little extra sweetness and they're great!

these are by far, the best scones I ever tried, and I am a sconeholic, instead of the milk I used half milk and half sour cream, and used a little less baking powder.

This is a wonderful recipe. This was my first attempt at making scones, and those who ate them thought they were great! One woman told me she didn't even like scones, but loved these! I can't think of a better compliment than that for this recipe. Thanks for sharing it.

This scones were the BEST! One reviewer commented not used to scones being "light and fluffy" like these. Lots of bad scones are hard and dense! I'm a beginner baker and my first scones usually were! ha ha. These were great, perfect, I've been to London numerous times and these remind me of the scones we had in some nice hotels.

This scone has a light, fluffy texture - which is not something I typically associate with scones. It is also quite sweet due to all of the sugar. I reduced the baking powder to 2 teaspoons to avoid a metallic taste and that seemed fine - the scones still rose well. Overall, I wasn't impressed.

I made this recipe yesterday using all cake flour because I didn't have enough regular flour. I used 2 teaspoons of vanilla and one cup cherry flavored craisins. I did the egg wash with sugar sprinkled on top. I patted into a large circle and cut apart like a pie. They were wonderful. Thanks for the recipe. This was my first attempt at making scones.
