This is by far THE BEST potato salad recipe I have ever come across. The homemade dressing is definitely the trick. Every singe person that I serve it to asks for the recipe. Awesome.

I tried this recipe, but was a little reluctant because of all the fattening ingredients. It was good, but not much better than my family recipe which has about half the fat and calories as this. I think I'll stick to my recipe!

This recipe is very similar to the potato salad that my mom made, she passed away last week and I never really got the full recipe but I do know that she didn't use anything to thicken it, she used quite a few more eggs than this recipe calls for. Her's was the best ever though.

I fixed this for a pool party on Labor Day weekend and it was a huge hit! Everyone went back several times and raved out good this potato salad was. I used paprika to garnish the top and give it a slight kick. Otherwise, it is very creamy and better than anything else I've had.

Different and excellent! I'd agree with other reviews, too much sugar, but the hubby loved it that sweet. I added a tsp of dill.

Finally a successful potato salad!!! I made this for a get-together with friends & everyone liked it. I doubled the amount of potatoes I used, added dill pickles for flavor & used celery salt in place of the celery seed that was recommended (only because that's what I had on hand!). I had just enough dressing for the amount of potatoes I used. The biggest difficulty for me was determining when the potatoes were ready . . . fork tender with little resistance. It all came out well.

I've been cooking for 40 years and this is by far the WORST potato salad that I have ever made or tasted, not to mention the biggest waste of time. I have no idea why it's getting such high ratings. I served it for dinner today, to a group of 6 people, and no one liked it.

very good, makes a ton of dressing though, either double your potatoes or half the dressing!

I have to agree with the others. It's too sweet. Even cutting it down to 1/4 cup sugar, it's too sweet and the dressing is a bit runny. The dressing would make better egg salad than potato salad. I used top brand ingredients so I am not sure why it has such an "off" flavor to it. I do think it would have been better with some pickles or something to cut some of the sweetness and that is probably what I shall end up doing today.

I give it 4.5 stars, easily. This was my first attempt at making potato salad (for a family event where I was trying to impress my new mother-in-law) and it worked! Per the suggestions of others, I added dill pickles and used green onions instead of regular ones. Lessened the sugar to 1/3 cup and upped the cornstarch as noted in Kaye's revision. It tasted FAB-U-LOUS!! One thing I did notice is that it tasted better on day 2 so when I make it again, I think I'll make it a day early. Also note: for those who aren't culinary chefs (which I certainly am NOT) 6 potatoes will make quite a bit. I was afraid I would not have enough for 8 people so I made 9 and ended up eating leftovers for a week. Thanks for the great recipe, Kaye!

Potato salad is not that popular here in the Philippines. But I already got tired of making the same salads so I try this one. It taste really delicious. I omitted the onion and celery. Instead, I used sweet pickle relish. It tasted so much better after refrigerating it overnight. Next week i'll be making this again. This time for my co teachers.

Definitely the best recipe I've used. I did make a few alterations, as suggested by others. I reduced the sugar to about a 1/3 cup, doubled the cornstarch to make it a little thicker, and added celery seed. This made it wonderful!
