Very Good! I added 1 diced celery stalk and a few grated baby carrots to the onion mixture. Then followed the recipe. I simmered on low heat for about 2 hours waiting for my guest to arrive. Served with Texas Garlic Toast, YUMMY!

Delightful! I used fresh tomatoes for the sauce and made several pots with this recipe. A definite keeper!

Love this sauce! Used meatloaf mix and added a handful of finely diced carrots to the onion/garlic mix and omitted the fennel. Used Muir Glen tomatoes with garlic and basil. Very good sauce.

Trust me, this IS NOT, the world's best pasta sauce. I left out the sugar, and STILL, it's WAY too sweet. Wouldn't make it again.

I thought this sauce was good right away, but my husband didn't care for it until it had been in the fridge for a day.

I made this twice, first as written and it was GREAT! But then I did some mild modifications. I used all ground beef, addes red wine instead of water and added 1/2 tsp of oregano and rosemary plus 2 bay leaves. Put it in my crock pot for 4 hours and it was OUTSTANDING! I even had a true Italian guy tell me it was an outstanding sauce. I served it over spaghetti.

This is a keeper. I have tried many recipes and this is the best so far. I added some red pepper flakes for a little heat. I also halfed the amount of meat. I froze the other half I alread browned for the next batch. YUMMY

Didn't change a thing, it was perfect! My husband is Italian and is very fussy over his sauce, even he gave it 5 stars - so thank you!

This is the "World's Best Pasta Sauce"! I made it last night for friends and it was a big hit! The store didn't have sweet Italian sausage so I used mild. We had it for lunch today and it was even better. I can't wait to make the lasagna! Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

This was my first time making my own sauce and I loved it! My fridge and pantry were quite bare, but this was a great way to use up those wierd things like tomatoe paste that I buy and never use! Thanks for the recipe!

Excellent sauce recipe. This was my first attempt with homemade pasta sauce. My FIL had a bountiful tomato crop this year, so the only change I made was subbing fresh peeled and seeded tomatoes instead of canned. We had him over for dinner and he approved!

I had been looking up his lasagna recipe just for the sauce. It's the best. I use 1.2 pounds turkey sausage, and omit the ground beef. I've also made it meatless. I like to add a bit extra rosemary. I recommend eating it over a whole wheat pasta and topping with jack cheese.

This was a good base recipe for the kind of sauce I was looking for. I made the following changes: used ground turkey and hot turkey italian sausage. I also sauteed some onion, bell pepper and garlic and threw that into the crock pot with all the tomato stuff and seasonings. After that I added some ground turkey that I had slightly cooked with salt, pepper, italian seasoning and red pepper flakes. I also added in the sausage after cooking that and removing the skins (i'm picky about my meat). I let it sit in the crock pot on LOW LOW LOW for about 4 hours until we were ready to eat it. It was reaaaaalllllly good and I will definitely be making again. The BF said it was the best (ok..ok..albeit..only) homemade spaghetti sauce he's ever had :P

While I'm not sure that this is the world's best pasta sauce (that's certainly saying a lot and covering a lot of ground!), I must say that this is a very, very good one! After about half an hour, I tasted this and it was still a little sweet and acidic for our tastes, so I added a splash of worcestershire sauce, a package of Lipton dry onion soup mix, and probably about 1/2 - 1 tsp. garlic powder. It was awesome! This may not be the world's BEST pasta sauce, but it's certainly in the running!
