Truly the best lasagna I've ever eaten let alone made. Thank you, John!!! I doubled the onion and next time I'll double the garlic. I used 1 tsp salt and next time I think I'll add a bit more (still less than 1 tbsp). I also didn't cook the noodles, just soaked them in hot water. To help with the fat (and liquid) content, I drained all the liquid after browning the sausage and beef. Amazing flavor! And it was even better the next day!

I absolutely loved it, the sauce was exceptional. This is going to be my all time lasagna recipe, I had enough sauce leftover to freeze and used it in the week with penne pasta....worked out great!!! Thank you.....

This was great!!! I made it as close to the directions as possible(always try to do the first time I use a new recipe). I used hot sausage instead of what was called for because that's what I had. Good, but will buy good sausage next time from the Italian market. Used the fennel. Was a little nervous so I crushed it up after measuring. I suggest you don't omit it!!! Would absulutely make the sauce the day before. And make double. This is the best tomato sauce recipe I have found. Good to know that you can freeze after assembly. Needs more ricotta for my taste. My boyfriend is a cheese hound so I used more mozza. Think i would double the garlic too. I looove garlic though. But this is really the best lasagna recipe out there. And I thought my mom made the good stuff lol.

Too sweet! Made the exact recipe for my family and did not get one compliment. Did use one pointer from several reviewers which was soaking the lasagna noodles in hot tap water for 30 minutes. That worked out great and made it so easy to assemble the lasagna. Otherwise I did not care for this at all.

Great recipe. I soaked the noodles as suggested in the other reviews in stead of boiling them. I would cut back on the salt in the sauce it was a little much. Maybe half it.

I have made this lasagna several times and it is fabulous. Don't leave out the fennel seed because it is part of what is so tasty about this dish. The only thing I do differently is use an entire box of lasagna noodles and put it in a larger pan. I would like to see how well it freezes but my large gang never leaves any behind!!

I made this for Thanksgiving (in addition for turkey) and it was unbelievable. Even my grandfather, who is a South Philadelphia Italian, said it was REALLY good. My recomendation would be omitting the salt. That was its only flaw. There is enough salt in the chese. I will definitely make this again.

This really is the world's best lasagna!! For those who said it was a bit watery, after I cooked down the sausage and ground beef, I drained out a bit of the liquid, and it came out perfectly. Also, you might not want to add as much salt as it calls for.

YUM! First time making lasagna so I wasn't surprised it took so long. I followed the recipe exactly except that I couldn't find sweet Italian sausage so I used mild, and I put grated mozzarella on top instead of sliced. Also I think I used more mozzarella than the recipe called for. I didn't add as much salt because I prefer to let people add it themselves. This was SO GOOD and I'm making it again for my family on Christmas Eve.

My husband likes this very well, and loved the sauce in this. He asked me to use the sauce and adapt my old recipe which includes sausage and mushrooms.

Best lasagna I've ever had/made! Well worth the time it takes to make. I froze the casserole, thawed 2 weeks later & it was still great. I made extra sauce & used it for all the other casseroles I was making that required jarred spaghetti sauce by leaving out the meat & adding it to the lasagna separately. I would recommend it as a sauce for other dishes, very good!

Yum! We enjoyed this. I mis-measured the meat, though, and added an extra half pound of ground beef... I would not recommend that! Even my husband thought it was to "meaty." The flavor was wonderful, but next time I will make more of the ricotta cheese filling.

It's the prettiest lasagna I've ever made. For taste, I think I'm gonna double the tomato paste next time. The flavour is not robust for my liking. Seems like something is missing. I've followed the recipe exactly. May be add a little zing to it next time. I'll update when that happens.
