I loved this salad, perfect for holiday parties. I did use baby spinach instead of romaine, I think it made it a little fancier.

This was the "highlight of the table" at our friend's Reformation party. The only thing I did differently was to use walnuts and almonds instead of cashews as that was what I had on hand( I doubled the recipe and used walnuts on one salad and almonds on the other.) I made the dressing as stated, usinig the bottled lemon juice since I had a lot on hand. Will be making this again!

This is so yummy & easy...everyone was asking me for the recipe for the dressing. I changed up the salad a little to accomodate what was on hand. Used the suggestion of raisins soaked in orange juice since I didn't have any pears (very good). Also used candied pecans instead of cashews. Will definately make again! Thanks.

I have used this recipe since last year for progressive dinners with rave reviews! I have altered the recipe using extra virgin olive oil, cranrasins, rasins soaked in orange juice & mixed greens.

Love these flavors together! I would never have thought to add swiss cheese, but it blends in nicely. I used a store-bought organge poppyseed dressing to save time and cleanup, but I'm sure it would be just as good with the homemade dressing. This will definitely go in the fall salad rotation.

So delicious! The only changes I made was to use toasted slivered almonds instead of cashews and iceberg lettuce (what I had on hand). We really liked the nice light dressing.

This was wonderful! I brought it to a party and everyone commented on it! I did not add cheese and for the nuts I used almond slices I toasted in the oven. The amount of dressing it calls for is way too much. Next time I will probably make half of what the recipe calls for. I also only used 1/4 cup of sugar in the dressing and it was plenty sweet enough for me!

Easily one of my favorite salads. My modifications: 1) I minced the onion very fine since I don't have a food processor. 2) I also used walnuts instead of cashews and it goes so well with cranberries. 3) I cube the apples in advance and dump them into a container with the dressing, This way when I'm preparing lunch for work in the morning I just scoop out the apples onto a bed of lettuce, toss in some nuts and berries, and I have a fantastic salad!

I made this to take to a dinner party, and it was a big hit. I made exactly per directions, except substituted walnuts for the cashews. I was a little scared about the dressing - I couldn't get it to thicken as much as I thought it should, but tasted great.

FANTASTIC! The lemon poppyseed dressing is absolutely delicious. Be sure to use freshly squeezed lemons and not the stuff out of the yellow plastic containers - - it does make a difference. I used butter lettuce instead of romaine, but otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. The pears, apples, cheese, and cashews combined perfectly with the lemon dressing. One word of caution - - this fed three hungry adults (two helpings for the men). So don't be fooled by the "serves 12". Your family and guests will go back for seconds, trust me!

FANTASTIC. I have made this recipe 3 times in the past month and everyone I have served it to loves it. The only change I made was to add some mandarin oranges. It adds a little more color and they taste good with the dressing.

Made this for my dad's 50-something birthday with the whole family up to celebrate and it was a hit! The salad dressing is unlike store brand poppyseed dressing with a lighter taste. We also used a spring greens mix instead. The combination of swiss, dried cranberries, cashews, apple and pear were delightful for these winter months. Thanks for another great recipe!

4 stars as is; 5 stars with changes. The dressing is wonderful. I don't think bland crunchy romaine is a good choice for white, peeled, crunchy fruit. I would go with spring greens, baby spinach, etc as a contrast to the fruit. I would also leave the fruit unpeeled to add color to the salad. I used pecans as that was what I had and thought they worked fine. A very, very good sald with another choice of greens.
