I made this for 3 different dinner invitations within the last month. It was a huge hit at all 3 parties! I am about to send the link to a friend. It is so yummy! My husband absolutely loves it!

Simply delicious. I have made this recipe with swiss cheese and blue cheese and have decided that I liked the blue cheese better. Either way it is a great recipe!

I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a huge success. There were a few who did not try it initially, but quickly helped themselves after they heard all the raves from those who did try it. The dressing is so light and goes perfectly with the ingredients in the salad ... although you don't need to double the dressing because there's more than enough even when you double the salad ingredients. I went with 2 bags of Romaine and doubled everything else to comfortably feed 14 people. After cutting the fruit, I tossed it into a little bit of the dressing to keep the fruit from turning brown. Not until I was ready to serve the salad did I toss a little more dressing into the salad. Again, I had lots of dressing left over. The swiss cheese and cashews may sound strange, but they are absolutely delicious in the salad. This salad perfectly complements a heavy Thanksgiving/Christmas meal.

This one is a winner! Prepared exactly according to the recipe, with one small exception. Used a bag of salad mix for speed. (Iceberg lettuce with carrots and red cabbage). The combination of sweet, salty, tangy from the meldiing of all the ingredients was wonderful! My husband said he didn't think he was going to like it, but now he can't wait for me to make it again. Thanks for sharing this wonderful combination!

This was a winner at my Christmas dinner!! Everyone raved about it! I omitted the red onion because my father is allergic, but the salad didn't seem to suffer any!

This salad is soooo delicious! I've tried it with feta & mozzarella instead of swiss cheese and I've used toasted walnuts instead of cashews. The dressing is fabulous as well. I usually double the lettuce and that gives me more servings. Yum-O!

This is an awesome recipe - my husband says it's company worthy, and he's right. I used grated Romano for the Swiss cheese (just because it's what I had on hand) and it was a great choice, as it gave a salty flavour to the sweet and sour dressing. I used two apples, as I didn't have a pear - but as other reviewers have suggested, it would be good with many different fruits. Thanks for the recipe, Nora. And a P.S. I made this recipe again with the extra dressing - used feta cheese and did add the pear as well. Delicious!

I put in a fresh mango or two. Also, I use whatever fresh fruit is available, strawberries, raspberries, or whatever. Mozarella cheese works great, too. The dressing really makes this salad; lemon is better than vinegar.

I made this salad for a Sunday School Christmas party. Very tasty! I used bottled Poppyseed dressing, and just added whatever amount of ingredients I thought my head of lettuce needed...no measuring! I also used pecans instead of cashews because that's what I had on hand.

This is just as good as the reviews before mine state. I made it for a large gathering and doubled it. I inadvertently forgot the cheese and it was still so good! Now I can't wait to try it with the cheese. I used hazelnuts, pecans and walnuts that I toasted myself. I soaked my cranberries in warm water for a few minutes to soften them. That was my only variation.

We loved this salad. I served it with white cheese chicken lasagna from allrecipes some warm bread. The dressing seemed like a lot, so I halved it and it was perfect for 6 people. Next time I make this salad I am going to substitute the swiss cheese for feta cheese and mix in some spinach leaves with the romaine. I can hardly wait to try this again.

Love this salad, especially the dressing, whicn I prepared on the side for the picky eaters. I added cherry tomatoes, omitted the nuts because of allergies and used shredded gruyere instead of traditional swiss. I also squeezed some lemon over the apples and pears to keep them from browning. It was awesome and a nice alternative for Thanksgiving rather than the traditional mixed green salad.

This was the "highlight of the table" at our friend's Reformation party. The only thing I did differently was to use walnuts and almonds instead of cashews as that was what I had on hand( I doubled the recipe and used walnuts on one salad and almonds on the other.) I made the dressing as stated, usinig the bottled lemon juice since I had a lot on hand. Will be making this again!
