I had a hard time deciding how to rate this recipe. My kids did not care for it. But then kids are kids and to tell you the truth, I LOVED it. I will only make again for a large group. I did make a small change. I did not pour all the dressing over the salad just enough to taste and keep the apples from turning brown, I put the rest of the dressing on the side to add if desired.

Excellent excellent recipe! Whole family loved it and even when they were already full, they couldn't stop picking at it! Even the bf who hates vegetables ate a big plateful of it, saying, "it doesn't taste like salad so I like it!". Great balance of sugar and lemon juice. Definitely a keeper, definitely will be serving again. I would probably add another 1/2 cup of cashews and toast them as well to make the taste a little more robust. I would also up the number of pears to 2 and the cheese isn't needed. In fact, I think the addition of the cheese really takes away from its "refreshing" character.

An amazing salad!!!! I did not change anything (except that I did not peel the pear and apple) and it was outstanding. I will be making this salad all the time from now on!! **Update** I had to write again about this salad. I have made it non-stop since the first time I reviewed this. I make this salad almost every day either for lunch or a side with dinner. My husband is crazy about it too, which is great since it's not always easy to get him to eat veggies! I double the salad dressing and keep it in a tupperware container in the refrigerator and just treat it as a normal bottle of salad dressing and drizzle on however much I want. Thank you so much for this recipe, it is one of my favorites on this website!!! :)

This is a clever, yet simple, recipe that we absolutely love! Not being a fan of cashews or Swiss cheese, I've always omitted both in favor of pecans and sliced almonds, and bleu or feta cheese. Other things that take this salad from "good" to "WOW!" are the additions of fresh raspberries and dried apricots. I've also recently found a Blueberry Pomegranate bottled dressing (Maple Grove Farms brand(?)), with just the right kick of black pepper for this salad. Thanks so much for a great recipe!

I was looking for a good recipe for Thanksgiving. Well, I found this recipe and everyone loved it. They asked me to bring it to a family dinner this next week. The only change I made was to omit the almonds. It was still delicious. I wonder if I could make the dressing w/ Splenda?

I only made the dressing, not the salad. It was fantastic! So tasty, and not too heavy.

The dressing is quite tasty! I used a handful of shallots because they were on hand, rather than onions. They gave it a nice, complimentary sharp flavor. I added candied walnuts and beemer cheese instead, very tasty!

I heard angels serenading me as I enjoyed this salad; definitely the best I've ever eaten. I used a Honeycrisp apple and Seckel pears, dried cherries instead of cranberries and pecans rather than cashews. Next time (and oh, will there be many next times) I will substitue bleu cheese for the Swiss. I did make the mistake of tossing all of my salad with dressing, so the leftovers will be soggy and inedible by the time I want to enjoy them; lesson learned. Thank you for sharing this incredible recipe!!

Awesome! After reading some reviews, I decided to make this salad exactly as called for. There are so many feta/apple salads out there...I love the concept of cashews and swiss cheese. The dressing is refreshing (a bit like lemonade). Thanks for a keeper!

Excellent salad. Tastes like my favorite resturant salad! Husband asked for seconds! I did make a change. I used some blue cheese crumbles instead of swiss. We just like the blue cheese in fruited salads. The dressing is awesome! Thanks for the great salad!

I made this for a dinner party and it was a hit. It even impressed a chef! The dressing was so flavorful and simple to make. The only thing i did differently was add a clove of garlic since I love garlic. Thanks for the recipe!

Thank you for this delicious recipe! I LOVE the dressing. We can't eat dairy, eggs, or soy, so it's hard to find dressings we can eat. I am thrilled to have this recipe. What a great salad! Left off the cheese, absolutely didn't need it. I'm trying to keep from eating the leftovers but I'm losing the battle...

This salad is wonderful! The only thing that I change is I use Mozzerella Cheese, and I cut it in to cubes! other then that.. would not change a thing!! For the apples I use eaither Cortland or Pinklady because they do not turn brown, and for the Pear I use Bartlett(spelling could be wrong) which also does not seem to brown! Awesome salad and dressing I make it all year around!

I made this for Thanksgiving too and everyone loved it ! After reading all the good reviews I doubled my recipe. Thank goodness I did because we used all of it. The dressing is very light in flavor so it also goes well on top of fresh cut up fruit salad. YUM ! I'd probably use a bit more onion next time for a more flavoraful salad. By the way, I used sliced thin Gouda cheese instead of shredded swiss cheese to dress it up and added scallions to my salad. FANTASTIC !

This is a very tasty salad and it impressed everyone at Thanksgiving dinner. I will definitely make this again. Next time I will use much less cheese, if any at all. I found the cheese kind of diminished the fresh and light texture of the rest of the salad. Perhaps serving the cheese on the side is a better choice.
