Make this the night before and enjoy brunch with your kids rather than catering to them! Also great for taking places because the syrup is built-in.

I discovered this dish last year while hosting a family reunion here in the Pocono Mountains. My niece brought it and shared the recipe. It's a great dish to make ahead of time and freeze; then you'll have a fancy but easy-to-prepare breakfast whenever you host overnight guests.

There's quite a crowd when our family gathers for Christmas, and I'm always asked to fix this French toast. The praline syrup is a nice change of pace from traditional maple.

We have made this French Toast for Christmas brunch for twenty four years! It originally came from the East Coast. If you like your French toast firmer, then cut back on the milk.

There's no last-minute fussing with this breakfast or brunch favorite. Slices of French bread soak up the egg-cream mixture overnight. A little nutmeg and rum extract give the dish its sweet eggnog-like taste. -Barbara Nowakowski North Tonawanda, New York
