Very attractive, rustic looking bread that betrays the minimal effort that went into it. Surprisingly delicious, and I'm looking forward to making it again with variations--dill and a handful of shredded Cheddar cheese, or maybe herbs or Italian seasoning. It was a tasty acccompaniment to the Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup. However, both my friend and I thought it was a little on the salty side, so I think next time I'll reduce the salt to 1 tsp., and use 1/4 cup of UNsalted melted butter over the top rather than salted. All in all, a lovely bread I'll be happy to make again, and not just because it's easy and produces a loaf of bread in under an hour. Great recipe, and a pleasant surprise!

Delicious! Followed recipe exact, with the exception of subbing honey for sugar. The melted butter poured over the top is a great idea! It created a beautiful, uniformly browned crust. Try it, you'll love it!

This bread is very good! Mine turned out just like the picture posted by Minibug Mama. It is incredibly easy to make, and so fast! I used non-alcohol beer- Kaliber, and the flavor is wonderful! As others have posted, it is a tad bit sweet, so next time I will reduce the brown sugar to 1/4 cup. I also put melted butter on it before and after it baked, and wrapped it in plastic after taking it out of the oven. (Thanks Lori66). I will be making this again and again!

This bread was pretty good. I used all whole wheat flour and a pumpkin ale. It was so simple that I will probably try it again with some changes. I think I will try the gingerale suggested by another reviewer and maybe a combination of flour. It was good my way but could be improved.

I used corona. I melted 1/2 stick of butter and poured over the top of the batter and let it rest for about 30 minutes before baking. Removed from oven and brushed just a little more butter over top and wrapped in plastic wrap for about 30 minutes. Sliced it while still slightly warm and drizzled honey over top. Everyone enjoyed it!

Great! I cooked it last night and today we had it with smoked salmon, onion and cream cheese. My wife was very pleased! I used black stout and it gave the bread a lovely malty smell. Easy for a beginner like me, just follow the recipe exactly.

Great bread, I'm made it several times using Heineken beer. I made four loaves as Christmas gifts, each accompanied by a small jar of honey, and got great reviews. Changes I made: *used only whole wheat flour. *reduced baking powder to 1 Tablespoon. *reduced salt to 1 teaspoon. *added melted butter to top of bread sometimes before, sometimes after cooking, and sometimes both! YUM!

I like mine with Amber Bock, and I add Turbinado sugar (sugar in the raw) to the top instead of butter.

This bread was gone almost before it was completely cooled. We had some leftover Bud Lite and I found a great way to make use of it. It was very easy to make, too. I didn't think it tasted to "beery", if it did, I wouldn't like it. Next time I'll try with just the whole wheat.

Nice bread. Very simple. Very strong beer flavor. I would recommend brushing melted butter on top before baking. Choose your beer wisely. If you do not like beer flavor - why are you baking beer bread?????

Made 6 loaves for my dad's 60th. This was a big hit. The kids are loving it! Also, on a side-note, I made a loaf with wheat-free baking mix and wheat-free beer (YES, made by Anhauser Busch). It was also very good. If you know of anyone who is allergic to wheat, this could be an option. I would like to add, that even though the wheat-free baking mix had the baking powder and salt already, I added what this recipe called for anyway. According to what I read, wheat free needs a little help with the rising. Both kinds very good!!!

I've been using this recipe for years now and it's a total hit at my house. Shiner Bock is my beer of choice these days but Sam Adam's Summer Ale was *really* nice too. I follow the recipe exactly, just alter the flavor with the beer used.

I used a Sprite Zero in place of beer. I should have read reviews first as I can taste the baking powder. I'll try again with less. Otherwise it was good.
