Wonderful! I mashed a pear and added to the recipe since I was out of applesauce, turned out great!

Excellent waffles! I don't usually keep flax in the house so I just use quick cooking oats instead. Very tasty, wonderful with homemade, low sugar berry sauce!

Have made this recipe several times and it is by far the best waffles I have ever eaten. I Always thought flax seed & wheat germ was something health nuts ate, but my brother convinced me to try them. Last time I made this recipe, I did not have any apple sauce so I substituted cranberry sauce and it was also great.

These were the best whole grain waffles I have ever made! I made the recipe exactly, my 2 year old said "these are yummy mama" The recipe made 9 servings and they are so packed full of healthy whole grains you don't need more than 1 serving to fill you up. Here's what you can do with extras, cook them a little lighter than usual, than cool on a cooking rack (very important so they don't get soggy), wrap each waffle in wax or parchment paper and freeze in freezer bags. When you want to eat them take them out of freezer and let them sit on the counter for a few minutes, then pop them into the toaster, because you made them lighter than usual the toaster will toast them up the rest of the way.

This wax excellent! I tried making waffles once and it was a disaster and my waffle iron, a lovely wedding gift, has been haunting me. So this morning I decided to take another try and this was great! I didn't have applesauce and I don't use canola so I substituted 1/3 cup coconut oil total for oil content (it did chunk up in the cold milk but it still worked great). Thank you!

Fantastic! I've been looking for a higher-fiber, whole grain waffle alternative to eggos & this is it! Delicious! Crispy & very tasty! I did not have wheat germ, so I just added more flax meal & whole wheat flour - no measuring, just estimates & they came out fine. I've frozen some & I have enough to last me for the entire work week. Great recipe - thanks!

Great recipe, my kids loved this! I usually add 1 Tablespoon sugar and I've successfully used bran instead of wheat germ.

These are fabulous waffles! Light and fluffy while crispy on the outside. I made 9 servings (1.5x original recipe so I could freeze some) only a few changes: less levening (2.5t baking powder, 1t baking soda) and added 1/2 c ground oats (in coffee mill) and used pumpkin (about 1/2c) instead of applesauce. Amazing and my whole family gobbles them up!

The flavor of these waffles were better than I expected for a whole grain waffle. What bumped them from a 4 to a 5 star rating for me what the texture. They were nice and crispy on the outside, but soft and yummy on the inside. I had these with the blueberry sauce recipe from this site - absolutely amazing!! All 4 of my boys liked them as well.

OMG totally light and crispy! Instead of the flax ect. I used a 12 grain organic cereal and spelt instead of the w.w pastry flour, soya and olive oil. Doubled for the freezer too!

Very good, but unfortunately my family's not ready to go "healthy" yet with their waffles. Stupid Eggos!! I like these a whole lot better!

Excellent whole grain waffles. I expected these to be dense, but to my delight they were very light. Just used freshly gound soft white whole wheat flour for the flax (I think added the flax would make them not stick to the pan so much). Thanks for sharing!

Pretty dirn good for "healthy" waffles! Make sure you cook them until they are very golden brown, they taste much better crispy than floppy. If they do turn out a little saggy, just pop them in the toaster and they'll crisp up. Thanks for the great recipe What a Dish!

These were great! I only had oatmeal, so used that instead of the flax seed and wheat germ. It worked out nicely. I just grinded up the oatmeal and it came out fine. Will definitely be making these again!
