This recipe was very good. I used 1 nice sized sweet white onion instead of two. It was more then enough. I used chicken broth instead of the beef broth and I used canned northern beans. I purchased the diced tomatoes that had green chilis in it and after it was done I topped it with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese and to make the meal complete I made some sweet corn cake to go along with it. I will definitely be making this again!

So good! This was better the next day, but that tends to be the case with chili. We really liked the flavor of the cocoa in the sauce.

This was a great base recipe for chili. I have varied it by using different beans, kidney, black or navy.. or all three for different colors. I've also used 2/3 ground turkey breast and 1/3 lean red meat, which my husband prefers. I've also added a diced jalapeno for some heat, which was good too!

this is pretty good..i only used 2 cans of beef broth and still thought it was too soupy, so i used some cornstarch to thicken it..i also used a small can of fire roasted green chilies, some garlic and a red pepper, only because i had it in the fridge...the addition of cocoa and cinnamon is a nice touch and certainly not overpowering...this one is a keeper!

I love this recipe. Only use 1 can of beans for us though. In the past year I've probably made it 6 times.

Awesome! My Husband is not a chili eater, but he loved it. I added crushed tomatillo sauce and made a sour cream/cilantro/lime dressing in the food processor to dollop on top.

I adjusted recipe for six rather than 12. Next time I will add beans at the simmering for 45 minutes stage instead of after. I followed recipe exactly because I rarely cook and have never heard of cocoa and cinnamon in chile. It was very good but not thick enough.

Very good! I added less broth too and it was much thicker. I also used Chicken broth instead of beef because I did not have any. I also used shredded turkey. It was a hit at the dinner table.

I didn't have any cocoa powder so I didn't use any, I also used a can of diced tomatos that had chilis in it. Very Good!

This was more like a soup than a chili. I loved the flavor, but maybe next time I would use less beef broth, 2 cups instead, and maybe some cornstarch to thicken it up.

This is really great! The recipe ends up being a little watery, I even used only 2 cups of broth. I also added a fresh tomato, small can of green chilies and didn't have the bay leaves. I decided to throw in some sun-dried tomatoes in the last couple of minutes and they made it fabulous!!!!!

This was very simple to make. I had all of the ingredients on hand and followed instructions exactly. It was delicious! Full of flavor. It was my first time cooking with cocoa powder in chili, and it was a sublte yet tasty addition. My husband doesn't like cinnamon in his foods so the cinnamon was too much for his liking, but I on the otherhand love it in chili and have used it before. Great Recipe. Thanks!

I added a can of black beans along with the white and it gave it a nice look. Taste was pretty good but I like my chili a little thicker. Maybe less liquid.

This chili is great and I love that it is healthy also. I don't like the beans listed in the original recipe so I substituted 2 cans of garbanzo beans. I also followed what some of the other reviewers said and only used one cup of the beef broth.

Good chili. It seemed to be missing something though, and I'm not sure what it is. I cooked the meat on the stove, added the seasonings (including minced garlic to the ground turkey and some red pepper flakes) and then put everything in the crock pot for a few hours. I had to use Great Northern beans instead of the recommended white kidney or cannellini beans since the grocery store didn't have either one. I served it with Homesteader Cornbread, also from allrecipes.com.
